Yesterday, I took my first “office day” to manage all of the new-found work that’s hit my plate. My husband took the kids to a drop-off day care that we can use as a benefit his employer offers. It was awesome; I cranked out some serious productivity. Which has all come to a screeching halt today, as my kid woke up with the sniffles.
I’ve now gotten feedback that having the sniffles does not necessarily merit staying home from pre-school. But erring on the side of not having fellow pre-school moms hate on me, I opted top keep him home. So, I’m bored. He’s bored. I’ve even have the feeling that the babe is bored. (He’s been doing a lot of banging on the floor yelling “Bah, bah, BAHHHH!!!”) Something had to be done.
In a moment of true desperation, I turned to pinterest, and found a simple recipe for bath tub paint (thank you “Meet the Dubiens“). In true Katie fashion, I adapted the recipe to what I had on hand and tentatively set out to do arts and crafts with the kids.
I think this may be the only craft in the world that leaves your house and kids cleaner than when you started. It was actually kind of fun. Yeah, never say never. I may actually pick up a glue gun one of these days. This having kids thing is having an odd effect on me.
Bath Tub Paint – The Recipe
Tear-free bath wash, corn starch and food dye. Plastic containers and paint brushes also handy.
Mix approx. 1/3 cup soap, one drop coloring and 1 tb. corn starch in cups. Stir.
So pretty.
Graham really enjoyed painting his brother.
Who apparently didn’t mind.
The bubbles after made for an awesome bath for the boys. I couldn’t get them to look at the camera for the life of me. This was the best I could do.
Hope you get as much fun out of this as our clan did today!
Oh great craft. We just made 5 colors for bath time tonight!
So cute! i know my little girls would love this…and i love how easy the recipe is! lol Glad i saw your post on the Show and Tell link up!
