Truly, I think it’s a crime that I don’t have a little girl. But, as fate would have it, I’ve been blessed with boys. I mean it, I really do feel blessed. And, now I’m also comfortable with what that entails: power shovels, Thomas the Train, catching bugs, and being gifted rocks instead of flowers. It took a little getting used to, but I now have a rock vase. Turns out, they last longer than flowers anyway.
I encouraged moms to dress their children up as their favorite fairy tale character: Princess, Prince, Knight, Frog, Witch, it didn’t matter. I’m pretty sure in addition to every Disney princess imaginable we also had a cowboy, construction worker, and Buzz Lightyear. Hey, as long as the little dudes felt included, right?
For crafts, the children got to decorate princess wands and shields that I ordered from Oriental Trading. We also had sticker sheets with a fairy tale scene. Stickers are a big hit with our under-5 crowd.
Moms brought super-cute fairy-tale themed food, and we even had a parade for the children to walk around the park in all of their costumed glory. It was pretty darn cute.
