I’ve been a bon-a-fide Bah-Humbug. Everything regarding Christmas this year just seems like so much work. On top of the real work I’ve got and the raising two kids bit. But, knowing that it the holiday season means the world to little kids and not wanting my children to miss out on the spirit, I’m promising myself and my family to OWN this Christmas. Christmas 2012 better get ready because Katie Harding is in it to win it.
Here’s my to-do list. I’m making my list and checking it twice… ’cause let me tell you: It’s gonna be nice.
Take the kids to see Santa in coordinated outfits.
Making an insane amount of Christmas cookies with the kids and delivering them to our neighbors.
Holiday Lights Tour: We’re packing up the car with kids in footie pajamas and driving around town to see the best light displays. Hot Cocoa and Chocolate Milk will definitely be involved. So may fast food french fries.
Family Movie Night: Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special viewed from a room lit by a Christmas tree and completed with sleeping bags on the floor and a big ‘ol bowl of popcorn.
Put something big and obnoxious that lights up in the yard.
Craft (yep, craft) salt-dough hand print ornaments for everyone in the family… including the dog.
Gingerbread houses: Assemble and EAT!
Get a Christmas ornament for Will’s First Christmas. I gotta find one for 2011. Oops.
Leonard Bearstein Symphony Orchestra: We’re gonna watch those singing bears in Bank of America’s Founders Hall in our Christmas “finery” and go have a family pizza dinner afterwards at Brixx. A train ride might even be involved. Yeah, we’re going all out.
Toy Drive Playdate: I’m inviting all of those friends that we’ve not gotten to hang out with since pre-school got into full swing and we’re gonna eat and drink and be freakin’ merry. Oh, and collect toys and food for local families.
Are you in it to win it this holiday season? What’s on your to-do list?
