Is anyone else totally overwhelmed by the fact that February is over and we’re rolling right on into March? I want to yell, “Hold your horses!” at 2013. Is that possible? Is it having kids, getting older, or increased responsibility that makes it seem like life is on fast forward? Let’s just blame it on all three.
But let’s get to the heart of why I’m overwhelmed by it being March…. it’s because it means that the kids will be out of school in three short months, and then…. then, we’re going to have to figure out what the heck to do with them. The thought is totally overwhelming. In order to quell my rising anxiety at the thought, I’m enrolling my oldest son in summer camps. Lots of ’em. Trust me, he doesn’t want to hang with boring mom 24/7, and I don’t want to scream “stifle his creativity” all summer either. Let’s just say Graham will be spending many a summer day at the Open Door School Summer Camp.
Here’s why I’m a fan: They offer non-secular “montesorri-ish” programming at a budget price, 5-days a week. The camp is open to ages three through five, and they’ll be playing crafting, woodworking, exploring, building, demolishing, and having grand fun. Children must be 36 months old before the start of camp, but they don’t have to be potty trained.
Here’s the run down on the details:
Weeks offered: All camps run 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
June 3-7 (CMS is still in in session this week)
June 17-21
July 8-12
July 22-26
Cost: $25 annual registration fee per child, due at the time of registration
$110 tuition per child, per week due by April 1, 201
