How to Get 200 Minutes back EVERY WEEK (with no sorting)! Sounds pretty good, right? Read on to find out how…
***********************
I recently attended a Muffins for Mom event at my child’s Kindergarten class. Each child presented their mother with a book about their moms. There was a page with a lovely stick figure family portrait, a sentence about how Graham loves my hugs and cooking (especially pizza), and a page dedicated to “what mom does.” I was fascinated by this particular drawing. At first I was a little unclear about the illustration: a person, a big square and three smaller squares.
“The first one is me, the second one is the computer, and the small squares are the laundry,” Graham explained. Yep, my kid pretty much nailed my daily activities on the head – child rearing, working on the computer, and laundry. I must clearly do a lot of laundry for my child to recognize it as a “top three” activity.
We’ve got a family of four, soon to be five, and it’s true: I spend A LOT of time picking up dirty clothes, sorting dirty clothes, washing and drying clothes, re-sorting clothes by owner, folding clothes, then putting away clothes. So much, in fact that I think nudist colonies have something going for them. Imagine not having to wash clothes! Ever!
I’ve been on a mission to streamline chores, and was thrilled to discover Purex® No Sort™ laundry detergent on a recent Walmart shopping trip. No sorting? Well, that would cut out a lot of time. I grabbed a few bottles (Purex is really inexpensive compared to the brand I normally purchase), and decided to give this No-Sort a go.
How much time does it same to not have to sort laundry? Well, I timed it. On laundry-washing day (which is usually 2 times a week), we have three baskets of clothes to wash. Sorting out the colors, which is always a confusing process if you ask me, takes about 5-7 minutes. Not a huge deal, but I could do a lot of other things in five minutes: Prep food for dinner, make a phone call to a friend, play LEGOs with my son, check my Instagram stream…
After sorted, I always end up with an extra load of laundry – a two loads of colors and then a puny load of whites. But that small load adds an additional An hour and 37 minutes washing and drying time to laundry day. Boo.
Without the sorting, I have two normal loads that can be washed with Purex® No Sort™. And I gain back 104 minutes of my day. Now, that’s a whole nap – for me! – or a long stroll around the neighborhood. That’s a BIG win. 104 minutes, 2 times per week. Yes please.
Now if only Purex could develop an automatic folding detergent… But then when I get to watch the new season of Orange is the New Black? 🙂
Ok, so that may never happen. At least not in my lifetime. In the meantime, I’ll take my no-sorting, load reducing Purex® No Sort™ for Colors Laundry Detergent. Yes, “The Rules Have Changed,” folks. With a breakthrough Anti-Color-Transfer Technology, loose dyes are trapped and aren’t allowed to settle onto other fabrics. Keep in mind, however, that if you are washing jeans or strong colors for the first few times, it’s advisable to still wash them separately.
How much time do you think you’ll save without having to sort?
