Friday Night Family Movie Night just got more fun! Plan on a Elf-themed movie night with Red Baron and this fun Elf Popcorn recipe!
It’s no mystery that I pretty much live for Friday nights. Besides the possibility of sleeping in the next day (with three kids there’s never a guarantee), I love, love, love movie night with the fam. There’s nothing more simple or more perfect that pizza, popcorn, pajamas and cuddling with my boys.
I guess the only thing that makes it more special is during the holidays – when we have the glow of the Christmas tree and an infinite library of classic Christmas movies to watch. We cast a family vote and decided it was high-time to watch Elf during our most-recent movie night. Since this movie holds a special place in my heart (my sister played the DVD in the delivery room during my pre-labor with Graham), I decided to add a few bells and whistles to our normal Friday evening.
The first thing I threw into the mix? Friends! Everything is better when you’ve got your pals around. The kids were jazzed to have their playmates join in on movie night, and it was nice to have a mom-friend with us for me! 🙂
For dinner, I kept it simple, yet delish! My hands-down favorite pizza is Red Baron, and I particularly adore the Thin & Crispy crusts. Comes out perfect every time!
We let the kids nosh on their pizza while playing a friendly game of Hungry Hippo.
It was a big hit.
Then we got our Elf on. To add the the fun of the night I decided to make an Elf-themed popcorn treat. There’s a scene in Elf that my kids have always gotten a kick out of – the one where Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell) makes his own breakfast – spaghetti topped with chocolate syrup, maple syrup, fudge pop tarts, marshamllows, candy and sprinkles.
I’m not sure how I feel about this concoction on spaghetti, but on popcorn, I thought it might be delish. And, as it turns out, I was right!
First up melt butter on the stove top then stir in your marshmallows and syrups.
Meanwhile, pop some popcorn and get out Buddy the Elf’s favorite condiments!
Once the marshmallow mixture is ready, pour over popcorn, mix and toss with sprinkles. Voila! Buddy would be proud!
