This holiday season, I’m bringing back the Christmas cards, but with a personal touch with these Holiday Handmade Photo Cards.
Have you crafted your holiday to-do list yet? How’s that shopping going? The dinner menus? Pictures with Santa? Holiday decor? What about Christmas cards? So. much. to. do.
It’s all so fun, but when listed out, can seem so overwhelming! I’ve been trying to multi-task as much as possible this season, and get a jump start on everything a little early, so that I’m not crazed come December 24th!
I’ve been so overwhelmed the last few years, that I did something I never thought I’d do. I skipped sending out Christmas cards. It just seemed like so much effort and expense, and I figured everyone’s already seen enough pictures of my kids on Facebook. But, on a recent trip to my 97 year old Grandpa’s house, I saw all of the cards with photos he’s collected over the decades. He’s proudly displayed them, and you can tell they are cherished. And, I’ve got a feeling he’s probably not on Facebook.
Head hung in shame. My poor grandpa wasn’t getting cards from his great grandchildren. I’ve seen the error of my ways.
So, this year, I’m re-working my concept of the holiday card. Instead of ordering 100 cards and tracking down addresses, I’m just sending out cards to family that we don’t see often, and that I know would enjoy getting a portrait of the kids. I decided to MAKE my own cards. I know. Katie’s getting crafty.
First I set the mood, by getting a few items from the Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection™. Nothing says holiday more than the scent of Vanilla, Apple and Cinnamon. And the aromas put me in the spirit to create cards for those I love.
It’s been a while since I’ve lit a candle just because, and it felt so festive!
The Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection fragrances are available at Publix.
Next I pulled out my supplies to decorate my cards. Stamps, stickers, markers, the works!
Finally, I got to decorating. I put together a few cards, and I’m going to let the kids bust out the rest!
Inside each card, I added a portrait of the children. This way, family can frame their pictures after the holiday season.
Yay! So, what holiday to-do list items do you still have to cross off your list?
