Prosecco Sorbet Cocktail: a.k.a the Sgroppino

Whether you call it a Sgroppino or prefer to call Prosecco Sorbet Cocktail, we know it as AWESOME!  Pair VOVETI Prosecco with fruit sorbet and your choice of vodka, gin or Campari for a winning warm-weather cocktail perfect for outdoor summer parties.

When it comes to food and drink, the Italians sure know what they’re doing.  I’m pretty sure I was Italian in a past life.  Or maybe in a future one if I start behaving. Wish me luck.  If it means I get to drink this Prosecco Sorbet Cocktail I’ll try to be on my best behavior.

Beyond favorite foods like pizza, pasta, lasagna, and everything, the Italians also can take credit for my favorite drinks – espresso, Campari, and Prosecco.  With the upcoming Mother’s Day holiday and the awesome beautiful evenings we’ve been having (which are perfect for patio drinking), I decided to lean on the Italians for a warm-weather cocktail idea.

Ever heard of a Sgroppino?  Yeah, me neither.  But described as sorbet, vodka and Prosecco?  Why, now we’re talking.

This vibrant cocktail is not only delicious and cooling, but is soooo easy to make.  And is perfect served for happy hour or even as dessert!  The star of the drink is VOVETI Prosecco, crafted from 100% Prosecco (Glera grapes), it’s a dry brut DOC Prosecco with tempered acidity and a fresh, graceful profile.

Marked by fine persistent bubbles, VOVETI Prosecco features flavors or pear, green apple, melon and ripe peach that endure on the palate and invite a second glass.  Especially when paired with your favorite sorbet!

First, let’s prepare the sorbet.  Using a melon baller or a small ice cream scoop, make sorbet balls using your favorite flavors.  For these drinks, I chose Blood Orange, Mango and a Raspberry sorbet.  Return the sorbet balls to the freezer until ready for use.

Set up your VOVETI Prosecco bar for your guests to mix and match their favorite combinations.  These were our favorite combinations:

VOVETI Prosecco + Gin + Raspberry Sorbet

VOVETI Prosecco + Vodka + Mango Sorbet

VOVETI Prosecco + Campari + Blood Orange Sorbet
