Home is more than a roof.  It’s a feeling.  It’s a smell.  And nothing smells better than Spiced Apple Crumble! Check out the recipe.

Sure, the mall is playing Christmas music. And my inbox is filled with Black Friday teasers. But nothing really makes me feel like it’s the holidays until I smell Christmas. The fresh fir tree in the living room. Sugar cookies from the oven. Pumpkin lattes on weekend mornings. That’s when I know it’s time to celebrate.

The power of scent is so profound, and can bring people together in remarkable ways. It made me teary when I watched this video.

I can’t imagine life without my partner, my home, or my family.  But it’s amazing that Air Wick was able to bring joy to these families through the power of scent.

Made me wonder what my home fragrance would be. It would probably be the smell of pizza in the oven, baby shampoo, dirty laundry and abounding love. Not sure how that would smell in candle form, but that’s home for me.

But, as we spend more time inside as the weather gets cooler, there may be a few more over-riding smells – poopy diapers, smelly dog, and Jonny’s bicycle gloves (if you haven’t had the privilege of smelling them, congratulations). Which is why I’ll be using Air Wick products when we entertain!

Home is more than a roof. It's a feeling. It's a smell. What scents take you home during the holidays?

Air Wick’s new Life Scents Collection features the first-ever constantly changing fragrances and is the perfect way to outfit your home this holiday season. With multi-layered scents like Spiced Apple Crumble, Snowflake Vanilla Cookie, Emerald Woodland and Berry Cool Winter, you can choose the fragrance that makes you feel cozy and snug in your home.

I soooo loved the Spiced Apple Crumble scent that it inspired me to get in the kitchen and come up with a fun new recipe to bring to the Thanksgiving dinner this year.  You HAVE to try these mini Spiced Apple Crumbles!  So easy to make and while baking they make the perfect compliment to Air Wick’s Life Scents!

Personal Spiced Apple Crumble

Yield: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 medium apple, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons quick-cooking oats
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Place apple slices in a small greased baking dish. In a small bowl, combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add oats and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apple slices. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until tender.

Obviously, there are so many components that make one feel they are home. But as we move, or age, those sentiments are harder to trigger. Which is why Air Wick has launched its Give The Gift of Home campaign this holiday season. Air Wick is donating $250,000 through a portion of their profits to benefit families in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International.
