Man, it’s getting hot out. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be enjoying the air conditioning much this summer. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we practically live outside. It’s either that or deal with temper tantrums from Graham and my husband 24/7.
To keep everyone refreshed, I like to make popsicles with fluted pop molds that I got at Target. I layer different colored yogurts and flavored applesauce, and freeze overnight. It’s tasty, it’s cold, and I feel like I’m sneaking in a little nutrition while I’m at it. You can also mix in your own fruit purees and juices if you want to get really creative. I couldn’t find a link to the ones I have, but there’s a fun set from Cooking.com available for online purchase. (Might also be a good trick for teething babies!)
For a fun adult version of the popsicle mold, check out the shot glass molds available on amazon.com. Make the molds with your favorite mixer (I like cranberry juice personally), then once the molds are ready, fill with your shot of choice. Just drink up fast – the shot glasses are cold!
If you aren’t a planner, and can’t be expected to make frozen pops a whole night prior, you should check out the Zoku Quick Pop Maker from Williams Sonoma. It freezes popsicles in as little as 7 minutes!
