June 25, 2010 Mom Time

Who says I’m high maintenance?

I have been called high maintenance before. I know you’re shocked. My husband would probably not accuse me of such a thing, but I’m sure even he’d admit I have my “moments.” Don’t we all? Since having my son, I think I’ve done much in the way of downplaying those characteristics that lends one to receive high maintenance accusations. I don’t need romantic dates (often), an hour to get ready for the day (I think I’ve officially carved about 15 minutes off my prep-time), or even ten hours of sleep to function. Nine hours works just fine for me, thank you very much.

To save time getting ready for the day, I have some new products that have worked their way solidly into my morning routine. I thought I’d share them with y’all, so maybe you, too, can shock your hubbie when you pop out of bathroom ready to hit the road before he has time to finish his coffee and paper.

1. Pond’s Wet Cleansing Towelettes – Just a quick wipe across the face and any leftover makeup and eye boogies are cleared. Yep. I just mentioned eye boogies in reference to my morning routine. I also really like Almay’s Oil-Free eye make-up remover wipes. But those are for night, and we’re talking about the morning routine. Both the towelettes and wipes can be purchased at BJ’s, which is where I’ve found the best pricing.

2. After the cleansing cloths, I like to apply Neutrogena’s Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer with SPF 45. I don’t mess around with exposing myself unnecessarily to wrinkle causing UVA/UVB rays. And using the combo moisturizer/sunscreen makes things pretty simple. I also purchase this at BJ’s.

3. My favorite lip treatment is C.O. Bigelow’s Rose Salve. A dear friend brought me some to the hospital after I had our son, and I’ve been hooked ever since. It has such a nice smell, color, and stays on for a long time. Plus, it doesn’t leave embarrassing smooch marks all over my son’s face. I’m sure he appreciates that I’m thinking about him when I make my lip product choice for the day. I’ve found the Rose Salve at Bath and Body Works, and it’s around $5 for a pot.
