I have a confession. I’m totally jealous. Of you. Yes, you that gets to drop your kids off at child watch to take pilates and yoga, go on a run sans stroller, and then get to gather up your kids for an exhilarating time at the pool, guaranteeing hours of nap time for your little one(s) and possibly for you too. Yep, you’re a YMCA member. And I’m not. I hate you. Except on Fridays, when guests are free.
All joking aside, the YMCA is pretty darn cool. I’ve been a member previously, and due to other exercise related expenses that we’ve budgeted, we’re holding back on joining the Y. For now. And by for now, I mean this weekend, because I see myself joining up next week if I can conjure up enough “money that has no home.”
If you haven’t been to a Charlotte-area YMCA, here’s why it’s the cool place to be: the gyms are huge and have great classes including body sculpt, zumba, pilates and yoga, and you can work out while your kid is in child-watch (depending on the Y you belong to, this may or may not be free). If you aren’t into the whole letting your child be watched by someone else thing, they also have Baby Boot Camp classes that you can bring your kid too. They have incredible indoor and outdoor pools, and drama, ballet and swim classes for the kiddos.
The downside: it’s pricey, they may or may not be as convenient to you as other gyms, and you may have to park a 1/2 mile away from the building. Hey, at least you get your warm-up in before you even hit the building!
