Many of you may not appreciate this about me. The main reason for this is that you may never see my house in it’s “clean” state. Sure, I tidy before you come over. But I don’t clean. Especially if you have toddlers or are about to brew beer. Sorry, but toddlers do no favors to a clean home, and you beer brewers sure know how to make a mess. I host all playdates the day before I have scheduled to clean the house, and try to time the beer brewing in a similar manner. My reason for this disclaimer is that I don’t want you to completely discredit my advice when it comes to cleaning. I may not be an expert. But, I know my way around a clorox wipe.
If you have been to my home, you know the bane of my existence when it comes to cleaning – hardwood floors. In the past, I have handed my hardwoods over to a broom and the Swiffer. I sweep, then squirt Swiffer juice over them and wipe them dry with the Swiffer pads. And monthly, I have eagerly handed $30 over for these Swiffer supplies. No more, my friend. I watched the informercial. I bought the product. And I’m a convert. Enter the Shark Vac then Steam. In one fell swoop I have replaced my broom, dust pan and Swiffer. With a minimal $150 investment, I no longer will be spending $360 yearly on chemicals to spray on my floors, and pads to wipe them up.
Besides the financial payoff, it’s also made my cleaning an easier process. Something that to me is more valuable than gold. The device starts out as a vacuum. I run it over my hardwoods and it sucks up the Molly-dog hair and the Graham-cheerio and goldfish crumbs. I then attach the steamer and the machine-washable pads, fill the tank with water (yep, good old-fashioned tap water), and in 30 seconds the Shark is ready to attack my floors with heated steam that promises to kill germs and bacteria. It dries quickly, and doesn’t leave a sticky residue that attracts dirt.
Don’t judge the device by my floors. Most of you may never see them clean. But, you are more than welcome to borrow my Shark and check it out for yourself. If you don’t invite me over for a few days afterward, I’ll understand. 🙂
I’ve been debating about getting one of these! I have a regular Shark vac that I LOVE! (It picks up everything….even a ballpoint pen today–whoops!) I think it may be time for my next Shark purchase! Thanks for sharing!
