When Craftiness gets “Real”

I’ve been blogging quite a bit about Pinterest lately. It’s inspired me to get a little crafty this season. I know a lot of you are probably shaking your heads right now. Katie getting crafty? This can’t be good. And you’re right, my aspirations have fallen a little flat. But you’ve got to start somewhere right? Here are a few of my inspirations and pictures of the “reality.”

I’ve planned on sprucing my Christmas tree up for years. This year, I implemented a new garland effect. Here’s where I drew the inspiration from:

And the reality… Not bad, right? What you can’t see is how crooked the tree is. You win some, you lose some.

I was super excited to turn up a notch with the dining room centerpiece this year. The twig/ornament concept seemed inexpensive and fun.

Perhaps I got a little carried away, but I think it’s “different”. Just don’t try and sit down at the table. Unless you want a sharp stick in the eye. Minor detail.

We’re too lazy to put lights up around the house, so I thought I’d trim a tree outside so we don’t look like the Grinch’s on the street. Here’s where I got the idea:

Unfortunately, it didn’t occur to us how hard it would be to reach the top branches. Half-decorated works, right?

These White Chocolate Cherry Cookies looked too good not to make:

My version doesn’t quite have the same appeal…. but they still taste good. I never claimed to be a pastry chef!

Do I get an ‘A’ for effort?
