Weekend flavor for weekday mornings! Get ready for back-to-school with these easy breakfast ideas for busy mornings!
Breakfast – it’s the most important meal of the day at the worst time of the day. Not cool yo.
I am definitively NOT a morning person. Ask my husband. Ask my boys. Ask the dog. Momma likes her sleep. Which means, that despite the fact that I pretty much own the kitchen in my house, breakfast is not my forte. At least if anyone wants breakfast before 9 am. Which is pretty much every weekday.
I have a few go-to freezer friendly breakfasts that I like to make up on the weekends, when I have some spare time. But lately, I’ve not had much of that either. Those Saturdays spent pool-side are way more fun than whipping up batches of pancakes. So I sought out a few alternatives. Something that would fill up my boys (all three of them) for their busy days. Something that would require very little effort on my part. And, something that makes my boys feel like I gave it my all.
On a recent shopping trip to Publix, I found my solution with Jimmy Dean breakfast items. My kids go nuts for anything on a stick – so sausage and pancakes on a stick? That they can dip into pancake syrup? Duh.
The Jimmy Dean Breakfast Bowls looked great too. I grabbed the sausage bowl for the hubs (who loves anything spicy), and the bacon bowl for myself. Mmmm… bacon…
And because I’m the queen of taking a convenience food item and giving it a little extra love, I tossed in some succotash leftover from dinner the night before and some chopped fresh tomatoes. Truly amazing. Weekend quality breakfast on weekday time.
As I said, I used my fave succotash, but any leftover veggies would do trick. It makes me feel so good when I start they day with a veggie breakfast!
Look how happy they are!
I was able to get the hubs to smile for me, but the kids wouldn’t stop eating. Can you blame them? Pancakes on a stick are going to be a staple in our house once school starts back up!
Oh, I get to eat too? Yep, after my crew is taken care of, there’s time for me. But, there’s no sitting and relaxing! I’m a breakfast on the go kinda gal. ‘Cuz that’s how I roll. Fortunately, the Jimmy Dean Sauage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit fits the bill. 🙂
