I knew that I would one day have to write this letter. I just didn’t expect that day to be so soon. Since the day that you were born, the days have flown by. They’ve been days filled with smiles, and laughter. There’s been a lot of drool, quite a bit of poop, and some tears too. But, all of that is worth it to see you clap. To see you smile. To see your eyes light up when I walk into your room in the morning.
I’m not sure how long it will last, but I cherish being the light of your life. I know that one day I will just be one character amongst the many that will play leading roles in your world. But, this past year, this very fast-paced year, I’ve enjoyed playing the lead.
You make me feel special. You make me feel that my life is more complete because I brought you into this world. I cannot wait to see all that you will make of your life, yet I still want you to take your time growing up. Walking and sippy cups are great, but so are bottles and crawling.
William, you will always be my baby. No matter if the rest of the world sees you as a toddler, a teenager, an adult or a grumpy old man. “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, As long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.”
Happy 1st Birthday. Love always and hugs forever,
Mom
