An Interview with Graham, my 3 1/2 year old son.
Me: Graham, what does being a mom mean?
Graham: It means getting healthy and strong, and to not get cement in things.
Okay, sounds like he’s getting my healthy role model message, and I certainly do try to not get cement in things. So, all good, I ‘spose.
Me: How many kids do moms have?
Graham: One… or maybe when the babies grow up there will be two kids.
I think he is assuming babies are not kids, so therefore there will only be two kids once his brother grows up. And all moms, must obviously be the same as his.
Me: Does mom have a job?
Graham: To write for Chiquita and sometimes moms hold bowls when we’re making ice cream.
Yep, that’s pretty much what I do everyday. Write about bananas and hold ice cream bowls.
Me: What do moms like to cook?
Graham: They like to cook healthy things. Lots of kinds of food. Broccoli, and cheese, and dip-it.
Perhaps I’m pushing this healthy lifestyle thing a little too far???
Me: What’s your favorite thing your Mommy does for you?
Graham: When she plays sports cars with me on the floor.
Never mind dressing him, feeding him meals, driving around town when I take him to play with friends. I play sports cars. Gotta know when you’re needed.
Me: Are mommies mean or nice?
Graham: Nice.
Phew.
Me: Do mommies ever do anything mean?
Graham: They scream at somebody when they do what they can’t do, and if kids hurt someone they get in trouble.
Yep.
Me: Is mommy old or young?
Graham: OLD!
Me: How old?
Graham: Thirteen or sixteen or as tall as the house.
Apparently the issue of age is still a little fuzzy.
Do mommies get money for their work?
Graham: Yep, 22 dollars.
I’d like my check please.
If you could give mommy a gift, what would it be?
Graham: My Innotab! I can give you my Innotab Mommy!
A true testament to his love for me. Sweet boy.
Love the Q&A’s with kids this age! I think I need to ask these questions to my 5 & 7 year olds, for a different perspective!
And make sure to save them. I can’t wait to see how the answers will change over the years! Happy Mother’s Day!
