Confession: I was really bad about planning my son’s birthday party. I had big plans. I had a Pinterest board for the occasion. I saved plastic bottles and ordered sticker sheets for the party craft. I picked a theme and found delightful party food to match. The problem? I couldn’t get around to picking a location and consequently… NO INVITATIONS WERE SENT. My bad.
It turned out to be really fun and very unPinterest. If you haven’t read-up on it yet, hop on over to ChiquitaMoms.com. I’ve got all the tips for how to host a very casual and not picture perfect birthday party. But, if you’re more into planning (and trust me, I usually am too), perhaps you’d like to pick a location and date more than seven days prior to the proposed party date.
In my whirlwind of oh-crap-I-need-to-pull-this-off-ASAP party planning, I polled my peeps on Facebook (you know who you are), to find out “The Best Place To Host A Birthday Party in Charlotte.”
These are the great suggestions that were offered, coupled with a few birthday party locales I know and love:
Ricki Trease |
2. Freedom Park, Dilworth
Ricki Trease shared these two party venues. Apparently you can get the rec center for a party for only $85. What a deal! Plus, you don’t have to worry about weather. I’m a big fan of the Princeton Rd. Shelter at Freedom Park. It’s enclosed, bathroom are nearby, and there’s a sand box!
Karen Majercsik |
3. Sports Connection, Ballantyne
Karen Majercsik and her son loved a recent party they went to at Sports Connection. There was plenty of bouncing fun and no mascots to plague sensitive kids! (Trust me, I can relate to that one!)
Sarah Masci |
4. Space Kidets, Matthews
Sarah Masci, Jan Tiffany & Michelle Lloyd all recommended this famed local party venue. They take care of the party planning and entertainment. You just let the kids bounce and play video games in a private facility. Worry-free.
Kelley Crowe |
5. TCBY – various locations
Kelly Crowe raved about her sons party at this popular fro-yo chain. I gotta admit, I kinda wanna go to a birthday party here!
Suzanne Christian |
Suzanne Christian is looking forward to an upcoming party at this new Ballantyne venue. If you’ve got a lego lovin’ kid, you’ll wanna check this one out!
Jennifer Gentry |
7. Inner Peaks – East Charlotte
8. YMCA – various locations
Jen Gentry shared her love for these two party locations. Inner Peaks is an indoor rock climbing center. Sounds like a blast. And, if you’re a Y member, check out the host of opportunities that the Y offers for birthday parties. Whether you have a little dancer, pool-lovin’ tots, or kids that just need to “get the wiggles out,” this is a great facility to consider.

Chuck E Cheese’s is our daughter’s fave. Monkey Joe’s is good if your child likes mascots.
