It’s been a crazy week. I’m chomping at the bit to get this cast off tomorrow. I cannot wait to hop on a plane to go on a kid-free vacation. I’m writing up a storm to have all of my blog posts written before I go. And, I’ve been dilly-dallying and reading my favorite blogs.
First, I wanted to give a shout-out to Jacqueline Kuznicki, my doula when I had Will. I wrote about my experience with her on MomsCharlotte.com. And although she no longer is working as a doula, I highly recommend finding a doula if you plan to have a baby. She was a life-saver. You can read more about my thoughts on the experience, here.
If you haven’t already, you’ll also want to hop on over to Chiquita Moms and check out my recipes for Primavera Quinoa. In addition to the original recipe, I also share how to turn the leftovers into Southwest Shrimp “Lasagna” and delicious Baked Quinoa Fritters with Chipotle Aioli. You’ll love the recipe!
If you need a good laugh, you’ll want to read an open letter “To the Mom Who Won’t Stop Following Around Her Kid on the Playground,” written by Laurie Kilmartin. I’m SOOOO that “other mom on the bench.” Freakin’ funny.
Have you tried fresh figs? I have it on good authority (Kelly from Foodie Fresh) that you can get them at Whole Foods. If you end up able to get your hands on some, you’ll want to try the Figs a la Claire shared by Kelly, my new friend from the Food Lion Frugal Cook-Off. More to come on that tomorrow…
Finally, I think we can all relate to carpool lines. Love ’em or hate ’em? I’m on the fence, but I think I agree with Wendy from Charlotte Smartypants. Do you?

I’ve been sold on the idea of a doula for a while now, but it’s too bad your doula is not longer practicing.
Thanks for giving my figs a shout-out. Your quinoa primavera sounds amazing!
