My heart broke after what happened in Newton, Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary.  Did yours, too?

Have you been following the case of James Holmes, the shooter at the theater in Aurora, CO?  I’ve been hearing snippets on the radio in the morning and have been creeped out by hearing about his eerie calmness in the moments after being arrested.  Doesn’t that bother you?

Are you inspired by the amazing comeback of Gabby Giffords remarkable recovery and efforts to take on the gun lobbyists?

You’re saying yes, right?  And what do you think should be done about it?

Well, because you asked, you did ask, didn’t you?  I think there should be gun control.   One of my favorite persons in the whole-wide-media-world agrees… Jon Stewart.  Seriously, I know this guy speaks in jest.  But, I could not agree more.  The man speaks the truth.  My truth.  I literally took notes during his address on gun control.  Yes. Yes. Yes.

A lunatic database? Um, no.  Mental health care reform? Yep.

Is it mind-blowing that you can sue McDonald’s for their hot coffee that is already labeled hot, but not make gun companies liable for injury caused by their guns? Me thinks so.

Do you think an armed Principal Belding is re-donkulous?  Indeed.

Seriously.  Arm up people with your muskets.  Go get as many as you want and get on with your bad-self.  Then let the rest of us sleep in peace.  Go to the movies and have a fun night.  Send our kids off to safe schools.  And, pursue the right to life, liberty, and maybe even happiness.

As always, feel free to add your opinions in the comment section.  Your opinions will not be deleted.  Please, just be respectful.  Many thanks,

Katie

If you live in a perfect world it would be great if no one had to have a gun. Look at statistics before you listen to a comedian to make your judgement. Gun free zones are where the crazies go to do their damage! More should be looked into people that have disturbed or mentally ill members liivng in a house with a gun. Studies on the meds people put their kids on for ADHD and other things should be looked into.

Making a gun manufacturer responsible for people misusng them is like making a car dealer responsible for wrecks. Ridiculous. I do believe people should have training to have a gun. If they can make a map of gun owners they should make a map of criminals and people with mental problems before they sell a gun to them.

A gun can’t kill without a person. The whole reason for the second amendment is so a governnent can never takeover the country. The first thing Hitler did was take away the guns and make the nation helpless. Read up on your history lesson.

I’m fairly read up on my history lesson, but I’ve come to a different conclusion. And, yes, I definitely expected to get grief about choosing Jon Stewart as my hero on this. That’s cool. But why’s everyone gotta bring up Hitler when we talk about gun control? Other countries have gun control and have successfully reduced crime rates.

What would you recommend for reducing the rate of gun deaths in our country?
