Cirque du Soleil, Quidam: Charlotte, NC Ticket Giveaway!

quidam

“When are we going to the circus?” Graham asked the other day.

If only he knew how much of a loaded question this is.  You see, I loved going to the circus when I was a kid.  My dad let my sister and I play hooky when the circus came to town, and we’d watch the show, get snacks and even…. a souvenir cup.  That was big time.  What I didn’t know at the time, but I do now, is the entertainment comes at a price.  Especially for the animals involved.  I’m not saying all circus’s are bad.  I’m just saying that I don’t know.  And, I have a friend that would disown me if I ever sought out entertainment that could potentially do harm to an elephant.  So for her, and for her cause, the answer when Graham asked when we were going to the circus is, “We aren’t.”

You should’ve seen his face.  He didn’t understand.  And it felt terrible to ruin the idea of something that I had loved so much when I was little.  As it turns out, though, there is a silver lining…. Cirque du Soleil, and it’ s coming to Charlotte in July with the show Quidam:

Young Zoé is bored; her parents, distant and apathetic, ignore her. Her life has lost all meaning. Seeking to fill the void of her existence, she slides into an imaginary world – the world of Quidam – where she meets characters who encourage her to free her soul.

I was thrilled to tell Graham that we were going to the circus.  Cirque du Soleil is the circus, it’s theater, it’s art, and it’s animal-free!  I’m going to buy that kid popcorn and candy and yes, a souvenir cup!  I also have four tickets to giveaway to a lucky Mom Favorites family.  Tickets are for the show in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, July 6th at 3:30.  Please only enter the giveaway if you are available to attend this show!
