London Theme Kids Room – #ThisNewHouse

** “This New House” Series, and the London Theme Kids Room post on MomFavorites.com is sponsored by Unpakt. Search our story on Twitter/Facebook with the #thisnewhouse hashtag!**

One of the things I got most excited about doing when we moved was decorating the kids’ bedrooms.  Like having a new baby, moving gave us a blank slate for their rooms.  Will was just about to transition from his crib to a toddler bed, and Graham was ready for his big boy bed.   So, all new bedding was already in the works, and all new bedding means: new colors, new themes, and so much fun for me!

graham 1

Graham is my oldest son at 5.  His previous room was done in an “ABC” theme, perfect for a baby and toddler, but we needed something new.  When I found Margaret Marshall’s Etsy shop and saw the prints that she had to offer, I knew I had the basis for my son’s room: the fabric London Buses for a London theme kids room with a great color palette of reds, grays and blues to work with too.

Margaret whipped up two fabulous duvets with a coordinating polk-a-dot fabric for the duvet backing and shams to match.  I adore them, don’t you?  Although her website is still in the works, she is totally open to having y’all email her if you’d like to order custom linens for your home.   Mention the blog, and she’ll give you 30% off your order now through the end of the year.  You can reach Margaret at: mrsstylinghouse@gmail.com.

For this room, I needed two new twin headboards, and loved the look of the stained and painted headboards from Kirsten’s On a Whim Design Etsy shop.  She was so awesome to work with and sent me several photos of samples before we picked the ones you see in G’s room.  One lucky Mom Favorites reader will win a $20 store credit to her Etsy shop and all readers are eligible for a 15% discount on any 25 dollar minimum purchase. Just enter MOMFAVES as the coupon code.

Above the bed, I found several great resources that make custom prints.  A Vintage Poster was recommended to me by a fellow playgroup member.  I’m so glad to have found them.  Their selection of prints are amazing, and they do custom work too.  The red car prints came from them.  I had two made – one for above each bed.   Check out their site here, and take advantage of 15% off anything on the site – code to enter at checkout is ROOM15.

To finish off the collage above each bed, I reached out to Little Marble Designs, who made adorable London-themed custom prints in 8×10’s.  (They’re the ones in the red frames.)  I love how they came out, and appreciate that each bed has similar but slightly different art.  Little Marble Designs is giving away one free 8×10 to a lucky Mom Favorites reader (with free shipping too!), and is offering everyone a 20% discount with a minimum purchase of $19.00.  Use the code MOMFAV20 at the time of purchase. This coupon code will be good until December 31st 2013.

graham 5One of Graham’s absolute favorite things about his new room is his London Phone Booth by Wall Pops.  Why? Because it’s a dry erase board and he and his friends can write on the walls.  I think it pulls the theme of his room together nicely, and love all of the sweet little messages that friends and family have left for him.  As we go through the rooms of my house, one thing you’ll notice:  I’m a big fan of using of using decals in decorating.  There are SOO  many options for adult and children’s rooms, they are temporary AND affordable.  A win-win if you ask me!  I’ve used Wall Pops a lot in this house and in my old home, and was so glad that they wanted to participate in this series and offer a giveaway to my readers.  Below, you’ll find a giveaway for (2) $30 store credits for use at WallPops.com!

graham 6I just love how it all came together with the duvet, headboard, custom art prints and the London phone booth decal!

graham 8Now, if Graham’s favorite bit of his room is the Dry Erase Board from Wall Pops, my favorite element in the room is the custom cornice from Simply Salvage on Etsy.  Lindsey from Simply Salvage was AWESOME to work with and helped me pick out fabric for the cornices in each of my boys rooms.  I absolute adore the print that we ended up with for Graham’s room.  It’s something I never would have picked out on my own and I think it looks great.  They were also so easy to install with the instructions provided.  Lindsey is offering a $50 gift credit to a custom cornice with her shop Simply Salvage in the giveaway at the end of the post, and all readers are eligible for a 10% off discount through the end of the year with the code MOMFAV10.

graham 9One thing that I love about Etsy, is that you get to work with small business owners that are willing to customize things for you.  I found Diva’s Intuition shop and wanted to have a toy basket to go with Graham’s room.  I told her the colors I was working with and tried to find a good fit.  When I told her I got the fabric from Fabric.com for the duvets, she graciously offered to do the same and make a large toy bag to match!  I LOVE how it came out and think it’s the perfect finishing touch for the room!  Y’all have to check out her shop.  She’s got tons of adorable fabric storage options that are perfect for a nursery or children’s room!  (If you love the London Buses hamper, find it here!) And don’t forget to use this discount code ROOMXROOM2013 to save 10% on anything in the shop

graham 10Had to take a photo of Miss Molly resting in the afternoon sun.  Sorry she’s not available with a discount or giveaway.  😉

graham closet 1Now, admittedly, this is a 5 year old’s room.  So it doesn’t always stay this neat.  But one thing that helps, is that we’ve relegated his many lego and playmobile toys to his closet.  One must take note: “Beware ye who enter here….”

graham closetBecause you will surely find a mess…and step on a lego or two… and you may get asked to walk the plank!
