Valentine’s Day Hot Cocoa Mason Jar Gifts

vday cocoa mason jar giftsI’ve been absent.  Not just from my blog, but from life.  Since discovering that I am pregnant, I’ve been in hibernation.  Legit hibernation. No TV or computer.  It gave me motion sickness.  No interest in food.  It made me throw up.  I couldn’t do anything really except be in bed.  But, as I’m nearing my second tri, I’m beginning to feel like a person again.  Thank God.

Originally, I had planned to make these little Hot Cocoa Mason Jar Gifts as holiday gifts for my neighbors.  We live in a new-construction neighborhood and have several new families that recently moved in.  I thought it’d be a nice way to introduce ourselves.  However, I simply could not pull myself together in order to assemble them.  I had all of the ingredients.  Just no energy.  Nor the ability to even touch anything related to food.

Given that I had all of the supplies and impending holiday to celebrate, I figured they’d work just as well for Valentine’s Day.  Plus, they’re a little less expected, which is kinda fun!

These Valentine’s Day Hot Cocoa Mason Jar Gifts are super easy to assemble and inexpensive too!  Not only do they make great neighbor gifts, but they’d be perfect for teachers, friends, co-workers and anyone else you’d like to give a small token to!

Hot Cocoa Mason Jar Gifts:

Ingredients Per Mason Jar:
1/2 cup Dutch Process Cocoa Powder
1/4 cup Sugar
2/3 cup semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
1 cinnamon stick
Sealed bag of mini-marshmallows
16 oz. Mason Jar

Assembly:
In the jar, layer cocoa powder, sugar, chocolate chips, cinnamon, then sealed bag of mini marshmallows. Done!  Seal and label.

Directions for Cocoa Preparation:
Add contents of jar in a large saucepan along with 8 cups of milk.  Simmer until the chocolate is melted and the hot cocoa is smooth.

Extra Touches:
I labeled the jar with chalk labels and used PicMonkey to design the back label with a note and directions!
