Don’t miss the Momma Makeover Giveaway with Tah-Tah Makeup at the end of the post!
“You look rough.”
“Are you getting enough sleep?”
“Still feeling sick?”
“Was it this bad with your last?”
“You’re looking a little…peaked.”
These are the questions I heard and things that were said to me for pretty much my entire first trimester of this pregnancy. Admittedly, I was in bad shape. Unfortunately, it was obvious. Dark circles. Greasy hair. Sea bands on my wrist. Pajamas all day long. Let’s just say – it wasn’t pretty.
When I started to feel better, pretty was what I sought. Okay, pretty wasn’t even necessary. Just not, “rough, sick, green and/or exhausted.”
In an effort to pull myself together, I decided to bust out the hair dryer and straightener, put a little product in my hair, and throw on a little makeup. The process was utterly depressing. I looked at the calendar, trying to discern when I had last been to a hairdresser. Jeez. Over 18 months ago. Okay, that’s just embarrassing. And makeup? Uh, I had some lipsticks that probably date back to my college years. Let’s just say, that was awhile ago.
I needed a makeover. Enter Tah-Tah.
I was put in touch with Heather at Tah-Tah, a makeup line and hair studio in Charlotte, NC, in a roundabout way. But, the connection was timely indeed. We met and decided: new hair, new makeup, new look. She came through with fresh updates for my hair color/style and makeup kit, making me feel like a new lady. Crossing over into the second trimester helped too!
Now, my stomach kinda dropped when I saw what my “before” photo was. Sure, the hubs sees this look all the time. It is not, however, my typical display-across-the-world-wide-web photo. Therefore, it is with true admiration for Heather at Tah-Tah that I display her magnificent talents….
Miracle worker, right?
First let me talk about her hair services. I love the one-on-one attention that you get when you visit Tah-Tah. There aren’t dozens of stylists buzzing around. And, no nosy onlookers checking out how awesome you look with foil in your hair. Heather listened to what I thought I wanted done, made suggestions, then made it happen. It was painless, and well, the little head massage you get while getting your hair rinsed… let’s just say I’d come back just for that! I loved how the color she selected brightened my whole face – perfect for spring!
Moving on to makeup, let me be the first to say, that I am NOT one to leave my house without any sort of powder/blush/mascara. But, pregnancy does some funny things to a gal. Lately, if I leave the house with a bra on, we’re going to call it a good day. Getting completely made up by Heather, not only reminded me that I can look like a normal person while pregnant, but also with the right products, it’s actually easy.
Here’s a quick look at her arsenal of Tah-Tah products that she used to “set me straight” once again!
All of those colors! It’s like being a kid in a candy store…
If you haven’t had it done in awhile (or ever) it is SO worth it to have a pro do your makeup. We chatted tips and tricks, colors that would look best for my coloring, and ways I can cover up my dark circles. If you have kids and don’t have dark circles, I wanna know your tricks for that, too!
It’s been a few weeks now since my full makeover, and I’m doing pretty well with maintaining. I have a follow up appointment scheduled for my hair (no 18 months between appointments again for me!), and I’ve been doing my best to not leave the house (beyond carting kids to and fro) without the minimum of concealer, blush, and mascara. Seriously, it takes three minutes to put on and makes me feel like a new woman!
I also have become very fond of several of the Tah-Tah products I took home with me, and wanted to share!
2) Tah-Tah Tinted Moisturizer – A Touch of Sand (I like to blend the Tinted Moisturizer and BB Cream for a light and smooth finish)
3) Tah-Tah BB Cream – Light
4) Tah-Tah Lip Gloss – Beloved
5) Tah-Tah Eye Shadow – Creme
6) Tah-Tah Ultimate Eye Liner – Snakeskin
7) Tah-Tah Lip Crayon – Tres Mauve
8) Tah-Tah Blush – Tickle
9) Tah-Tah Eye Primer – Pearl
And, as you probably expected, I’m sharing my love of Tah-Tah (and Heather) with y’all in the form of one uh-mazing giveaway!

Last time I had a makeover? Ummm…maybe never? I got a haircut over a year ago – does that count? didn’t think so. I’m also pregnant – I could REALLY, no REALLY, use a makeover!
I hear that! I was in the exact same boat!
You look great Katie! Thanks for sharing and I so would love a Tah-Tah makeover!
Thanks Jana!
Never!! Very much in need of one!!
Lovely! Heather is fantastic!
I totally agree! 🙂
Oh my, the exact words and the exact feelings go through my head everyday . With the pregnancy and now an infant at hand, there seems to be no ‘me time’ for feeling good.
No time like the present! 🙂
