Call me lazy. Or “green.” Or just really darn tired. Whatever you choose, forgive me for retiring my annual Christmas letter. If you have previously been on my list, please note: You weren’t cut. Well, not specifically. They just didn’t get out. Sorry y’all.
Instead, of scouring through my year of pictures and sharing a glossy version of my year for all to see, I’m starting what will hopefully become an annual tradition, along the lines of my yearly birthday notes to each of my children. Enter the year in review, via a blog post.
2014 was possibly my hardest year to date. I’ve had 35 of them, so that’s saying something. Pregnancy was brutal. Birthing a baby was no piece of cake. Losing my uterus was pretty crappy, too. And then the utter lack of sleep. Will we ever sleep again? Not sure.
Feeling sorry for me yet? Don’t. Because although this year came with a lot of bad, it also came with a heaping side o’ wonderful.
We welcomed Baby James to the family. Although he keeps his parents from sleeping through the night, we all adore him. Especially Will who claims him as “his.” He always introduces his little brother as “My Baby James.” ‘Cause he did all the work. 😉
At my lowest point after my surgery, family, neighbors, and friends near and far came to my side to help me through. My family has never felt so loved. Thank you.
And then, as timing would have it, my business has grown exponentially this year. I’ve launched my agency’s website, B2K Media Marketing, Mom Favorites got a facelift, and I’ve gotten to work with some of my favorite brands and fabulous new clients.
As far as the rest of the family:
Jonnie is rockin’ his job and riding his bikes. Loving both.
Graham (6) has learned to read and continues to sing (with enthusiasm).
Will (3) literally bounces through his day. I’ve never seen a kid so happy. Nor, have I ever seen a kid throw such a fierce tantrum.
James (4 mos.) has gone from a very “uncomfortable” baby to a delight. A delight that doesn’t sleep.
And, Molly. Sweet Molly. She’s a second mother to my boys. I can’t believe my sweet pup is turning twelve in 2015.
Honestly, I’m happy to put a close to 2014 and am looking forward to a fresh start in 2015. My goals? Establish a healthy work-life balance. Lose my baby weight. Take a trip with my husband for our 10 year anniversary. Love much. Regret little. Be grateful.
Cheers,
Katie
Don’t sweat not sending out a Christmas letter.
I’ve never done a Christmas card or letter since we married, moved and became parents.
I used to write a monthly newsletter to a few family and friends. Even that has fallen by the wayside.

YES! Thanks Joyce!
