It’s a big week if you hail from NC.  We’ve got teams a-plenty getting ready to compete in what we can only anticipate being some pretty awesome basketball games in the next few weeks.  A Carolina girl myself, you know I’m gonna be cheering for my home team.  And hatin’ on some Dookies along the way.  Yeah, you heard that right!

Bring it.

I gotta raise my kids right, with a passion for basketball running through their veins, so it’ll be a rowdy house during these next few March weeks.  I can hardly wait.  There will be friends over (as long as they don’t cheer for you-know-who), there will be some nail-biting, and there will be some serious snacking.

As for the latter, you know I’ve been coming up with a game plan of my own.  I’ve created a truly awesome Slow Cooker Cheez-It Mix that you can serve at your own Basketball Tournament Party or take-along with you for an easy snack to bring to any potluck party you go to.

For my snack mix, I incorporated two of my new favorite snack chips that I found recently at Walmart – Cheez-It Crunch’d in Cheddar Cheese (think air-puffed cracker with cheesy goodness) and Cheez-It Grooves (a thin cracker-chip combo) in White Sharp Cheddar.

Tossed with chex cereal, bugles, peanuts, and pretzels, along with my “special sauce,” this makes up one amazing batch of goodness, perfect to fill your belly while you cheer on your team.  What I love about this recipe, is you can mix and match your favorite snacks for a truly unique snack mix that everyone will love.

Once you get your dry ingredients into the slow cooker, pour in your sauce.  I’ve kept my simple for the purpose of this recipe – but if you love hot sauce and-or- garlic, toss it in!

Cook on low for three hours, but be sure to stir it every 30 minutes or so.  When you go to stir it, wipe off the condensation on the lid, if there is any.

Serve it up, or pour it into a gallon sized ziploc bag for an easy take-along party treat!
