Back from vacation? Don’t sweat. Get back in your groove with these five essential post-vacation travel tips!
I’m back. From Hawaii. And to sum up things in the way my seven year old would: O.M.G.
Both the trip and the recovery from the trip were unreal. In fact, once you ready below, you’ll discover I’m still jetlagged. And I will be for several more days. #coffee
We had a fantastic time! I went on my first helicopter ride (scary and awesome), I went deep sea fishing (I puked), we went snorkeling and saw spinner dolphins (no puke), and we had some amazing food and Mai Tai’s!
But, now I’m back, and it’s brutal. With several trips under my belt this year, though, I fee like I’m getting this travel thing down, including the readjustment back to reality. So, here goes:
5 ESSENTIAL Post-Vacation Travel Tips!
1. Designate an unpacking spot and dump EVERYTHING out! Instead of spreading laundry and odds and ends throughout your home, I like to concentrate the chaos in one spot. Seeing everything in total disarray means I’m more likely to put it where it belongs, but if I can’t do it all at once, at least it won’t be all over the house!
2. Organize your vacation keepsakes. For me this is usually photos, and I’m habitually bad about doing anything with them. Which is why, I’ve begun to use Amazon Cloud Drive which is free with my Amazon Prime membership. Amazon Cloud Drive allows users to backup all of their photos, videos, movies, music, and files but I’m finding it particularly useful for my vacation photos. I easily created an album for my Hawaii trip so I can share it via a private link with my family! Everyone can access from their phones, tablets and computers.
3. Be good. I always feel the need to revert back to your healthy habits ASAP. Exercise, eat healthy foods, cut back on booze, blah, blah, blah.
4. Schedule time for recovery. This is my weakness! I always think I can hit the ground running my first day back. The basic rule of thumb is that you should factor in one day of recovery for every time zone shifted during eastward travel, and one day of recovery for every one and a half time zones for westward travel. Basically, if you go to Hawaii, don’t plan on ever getting back in the groove!
EVERY Amazon Prime member already has access to Amazon Cloud Drive and get 5 GB of storage space for videos, movies, music, and files. But you can also try out Amazon Cloud Drive free with these two unlimited storage plans, both available with a free 3-month trial.
- Unlimited Everything Plan ($59.99 per year—equivalent of less than $5 per month): Store an infinite number of new and existing photos, videos, files, documents, movies, and music in Cloud Drive.
- Unlimited Photos Plan ($11.99 per year—equivalent of less than $1 per month): Similar to the Prime member benefit – non Prime members can also store an infinite number of photos in Cloud Drive without worrying about taking up space on phones, cameras, or other devices. This plan also includes 5 GB of additional storage for videos or other documents and files.
