I’m a boy mom. A boy mom. I. Have. Three. Boys. This is not a future I saw for myself. Although I was somewhat taken aback when we found out the gender of each child, I am delighted (truly) that I have my three boys and they have each other. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

It still strikes me as odd, though, that instead of knowing every Disney Princess or American Girl doll, I’m well versed in types of trucks, trains and LEGO® sets. It’s true. I know the difference between a bulldozer and an excavator, but I couldn’t point out Sleeping Beauty in a lineup.

One of my favorite things about having children all of the same gender, is that (so far… knock on wood), they seem to take interest in similar things. And the #1 toy in our house?
LEGO®. Hands down.

I’m totally ok with that. I love them playing with LEGO bricks as much as they do. Not only is playing with LEGO sets a screen-free activity, but they imagine, create, destroy, and re-build…. together! Even better? LEGO Systems offers different sets for all ages and skill sets. James is totally into LEGO DUPLO, Will is into all things LEGO, and Graham is now building (and reviewing, see below) more advanced sets.

If you have multiple children, you know… siblings have to get things they consider “equal,” so being able to gift the children their favorite Super Heroes LEGO sets perfect for their age, is pretty much the best thing ever.

I could go on and on about why my kids are such LEGO fans, but they really do a better job of showing you themselves…

Will, age 4, is a great LEGO® DUPLO® builder.  Designed for children ages 1 1/2 – 5, LEGO DUPLO offers an unlimited source of creative play; they are double the size of the standard LEGO bricks, and have age appropriate minifigures for little guys to use in role play.

I jumped in to assist when needed, but let’s be honest…. he totally owned this project.  🙂

Graham, age 7, is our little master-builder.  He can spend hours building LEGO systems, and dreams of starting a business doing online reviews for LEGO.  Whah?  I think there’s a little bit of an apple-tree thing going on there.

LEGO® Super Heroes sets, for ages 5+, bring characters from comic books and new movie releases to LEGO brick form.  Graham worked diligently on building his set…

Then he wrote out a script so he could share with you his favorite features of his Batman LEGO set.  I’ll let him take it from here.  (P.S – we’re blaming the hubs for the misspelling of pursuit.)

Are your kids LEGO fans?  What sets are their favorites?
