5 Steps to Organizing Your Digital Life + Giveaway

This is a sponsored post on behalf of MiMedia and The Motherhood.  All opinions, as always are my own. #MiMedia

Y’all tired of hearing me talk about KonMari yet?  Nope?  Great!  ‘Cause I’m soooo not over it.  You’d think that after getting rid of 120 garbage bags worth of stuff that I’d be happily done with my clutter purge, but unfortunately, it seems… the process has just begun.

Although my house looks pretty darn good right now (if I do say so myself), my digital space is one. hot. mess.  (Head hung in shame.)

Digital clutter is as much of emotional and mental stressor for me as a messy room, it’s just that for me it’s a lot easier to ignore.  No more.  NO MORE!  Can you tell I’m serious about this?

1) Purge

The first step?  The hardest step?  The purge.  This one takes some time, folks.  For me, the hardest part was manually viewing each photo on my SD card for my camera.  Phew.  I had 5,000+ unedited photos on there – several fabulous ones that I’ll cherish forever, and TONS of trash.  In addition to my camera, I also plan to tackle my iPhone images.  Ugh.  If the photo doesn’t bring me joy or I have several of the same images – DELETE.

Set aside 15 minute increments to sort through images, and eventually you’ll push through them.

2) Store

Listen up folks, I found the perfect cloud storage solution when I started using MiMedia.  Being able to store all of my photos, videos, music and documents I care most about in one spot – safe, organized and accessible always on all devices (phone, tablet and web), iOS and Android is definitely the way to go.

There are a few reasons why I went with MiMedia.  The biggest – is that I can import images from all of my collections – Facebook, Dropbox, my desktop, etc.  After completing the purge step, being able to import all of your favorite images from across different platforms is awesome!

I also like knowing that with MiMedia my images are safe and secure. Not only can I select what content is shared, and with whom, on an item-by-item basis, while safely keeping the rest of their files hidden away, but if I lose my phone or tablet, I can access the files saved to MiMedia just by logging in from my new device.

3) Organize

This is the fun part!  MiMedia makes it super easy to organize your photos.  If you ask me, it’s the best feature.  As a blogger I find the ability to tag super-helpful.  Writing a post about travel?

As I organize my photos, I’m tagging them based on who’s in them, but also based on the activity.  When I’m writing that post on packing for a trip, I can search my images for “travel” and find a great fit.  I can also tag each child in the image, so if I’m doing a photo collage for my son’s birthday, I can easily find all images for him from the last year.

4) Share

Sharing is also private – and easy – with MiMedia’s MiDrive. With the MiDrive you, your family and friends can collaborate in a truly private place; create and share amazing visual stories. Inviting friends and family to access the MiDrive via email is super simple

There are a couple ways to share! You can either share a link via email/text/social media without having the recipient sign up for MiMedia. You can also take advantage of the private family sharing drive (MiDrive), (all users will just need to sign up for MiMedia if they want to contribute or chat with other family members and friends).  This process is very simple, and you can sign-up for free. With the family sharing drive (MiDrive), members will get notifications whenever you put new content in there.

5) Plan

Now that everything’s in place, it’s important to put in a plan for importing and organizing content each month.  I have the first Tuesday of each month marked on my calendar as a day to delete unwanted images, import the keepers and then organize them.  Making sure this gets done monthly will make it soooo much easier than this massive multi-year undertaking!

Interested in trying MiMedia for yourself?  Use the code THEMOTHERHOOD (not case-sensitive) when you sign up for MiMedia. By including this code, new users will receive special promotions and information on contests, as well as exclusive access to try new features through an opt-in program.

Even better?  Mom Favorites is offering a one (1) year long trial of a Basic 500GB MiMedia plan to one of our readers!  Simply comment below and share with us how many years of photos you have to organize!  I feel like I was pretty bad with 9 years!  🙂

I have been trying SO HARD to organize my digital life and haven’t found any system or software that I follow through with. MiMedia interests me because my husband is non-facebook so I’m curious if this would allow us to share media successfully. I have 10 years of photos to organize…. oh my!
