Put “I’m Bored” to bed this summer with PLAY-DOH Town Playsets – the newest addition to the PLAY-DOH brand and the best way to get your kids, building, creating and imagining during this fun family activity.

They say smells trigger emotional reactions more than any other sense.  And when I opened PLAY-DOH compound the other day, I can attest to that.  Memories of childhood fun, creating, building, kneading and mixing PLAY-DOH with my sister on the kitchen table came flooding back to mind.  I remember being giddy on days when my mom would bring out the PLAY-DOH.  It was pure innocent fun.

Can you believe that PLAY-DOH is turning 60?  Hard to believe, but I’m so glad that the joy of molding PLAY-DOH creations is something I can pass on to my kids.  In celebration of their 60 years, PLAY-DOH is taking kids on a new adventure with PLAY-DOH Town; exciting, customizable figures and playsets that let children create their own villages and tell their Towns’ unique stories.

Since the heat has really been building these last few weeks, I figured there was no better time to introduce my kids to PLAY-DOH town.  Whether it’s rainy days or blistering hot days, PLAY-DOH makes the perfect insider summer activity for your little kids.  My sons, Will (5) and Graham (8) played for hours.

Will was super-into creating ice cream and popsicle treats with the PLAY-DOH Town Ice Cream Truck Playset.  Graham enjoyed shooting water out of the cannon in the PLAY-DOH Town Firehouse.  Both kids played (without fighting!!) all morning.  One of my favorite things as a mom is to hear my kids playing pretend.  It melts my heart.  And that they were doing it over an activity that I enjoyed as a child? Priceless.

Here are some of our favorite playsets from the new PLAY-DOH Playset line:

Little ones can also press out a hot hairstyle for the firefighter figure using her stylish hat, or a variety of different hair accessories created using the half molds included in the playset.

PLAY-DOH TOWN Ice Cream Truck Playset: Press out pretend soft-serve from the ice cream cone, or use the book mold to shape up giant PLAY-DOH popsicles that fit right in the ice cream maker’s hands.  Just be prepared to hear demands for ice cream treats later on in the day.  (In case you were wondering, I obliged.)

PLAY-DOH TOWN Pet Store Playset: Little ones can unleash their imaginations by stamping out their favorite pets using molds from around the store including hamsters, birds, fish and bunnies. Keep business hopping by molding PLAY-DOH treats for the animals and PLAY-DOH receipts for the customers!  This one got the most use once they really set to imagining their own PLAY-DOH town.  Each character had his own PLAY-DOH pet.  So cute.
