Ever wonder what a day as a work-at-home mom looks like? It’s crazy and wonderful. And filled with occasional treats!
A lot of people ask me: What’s it like to be a work-at-home mom? My response? Awesome. Awful. Incredible. Masochistic. It’s everything I hoped it would be, and everything I feared it would be. But, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I discovered early on in parenthood that I craved work as part of my day. Being around my kids is fulfilling in a way I never expected, yet I also need adult conversation, to engage in non-child related activity, and to take pretty pictures of food. 😉 I feel so blessed (yes, blessed!) that I get to work at home. But mostly because I have a REALLY AWESOME nanny.
So what does a gal do in a day when she’s working from home? Here goes:
7:00 am – Wake up call. This guy is our family alarm clock.
7:15 am – Coffee with the hubs on our outside patio. It’s our mini-date before the day gets away from us and the heat of these Southern summer days keeps us locked up indoors for the rest of the day.
8:00 am – Send off hubby. Unload dishwasher. Drink third cup of coffee. Feed children breakfast. Clean up mayhem created between the hours of 7 & 8 am. How is it possible the house gets destroyed so quickly???? Love on my kids. Should get dressed but don’t feel like it. PJ’s it is. I work at a bra-optional office. (My house, my rules!)
9:00 am – Amazing nanny arrives.
9:15 am – Off to work with my breakfast in hand. As a work-at-home mom, the commute ain’t so bad. Lovin’ my new office redo. Y’all it was so easy and I am excited to walk into my office in the morning!
9:30 – 11:30 am – Check emails. Write blog post. Edit photos for client. Conference call with client. Wrap up E-Book for client. Put on bra. (And clothes.)
12:00 pm – Trip to Walmart. Need to get supplies for blog post recipe and pick up some pantry staples. Like the NEW RITZ Cracker Sandwiches. I’m big into snacking on the go. And these are uh-mazing. Hard to pick which flavor I want, so… I grab all three. With flavors like RITZ Bacon Flavored Cracker with Cheese Flavored Filling, RITZ Baked with Whole Wheat Cracker with White Cheddar Flavored Filling, and RITZ Everything Cracker with Cream Cheese Flavored Filling can you blame me?
1:00 pm – Treadmill time. I prefer to run outside, but… It’s 100 degrees out there. I’ve been working on distance of late, so it’s a 10k for me. Woot! Woot!
2:00 pm – Realize I forgot to eat and have a banana and yogurt. Realize I stink and take a shower. Grab essentials and back head back out again.
2:45 pm – Y’all. I got a haircut!!! (And updated my highlights.) So, maybe this isn’t a typical day. I’m like a twice a year haircut gal. While the color is setting I grab my treat du jour – RITZ Everything Crackers. Perfect.
4:45 pm – Back home. Nanny leaves. Boo.
5:00 pm – Make dinner, which fortunately ties in with a client recipe I’m photographing. I do a lot of that. 🙂
6:00 pm – Feed the fam.
6:30 pm – Send the kids outside for “bath time” in the sprinkler. If you don’t think that counts as bath time we might not be able to be friends. 🙂
7:30 pm – Get my snuggles in. #Priceless
8:00 pm – Bedtime for the little guys. Read, “Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site” and “Little Blue Truck” to the little boys while our oldest dives into the fourth Harry Potter book.
8:30 pm – Second mini date of the day with the hubs. Cheers to the sunset and a day well done.
It’s a life I love but it’s not for everyone. But you know what is? The NEW RITZ Cracker Sandwiches.
Make use of this iBotta coupon good now through August to save $.50 at your local Walmart! Don’t have time to grocery shop? No sweat! Walmart grocery in selected markets is providing consumers with a VIP grocery box including RITZ samples and coupons through July when groceries are ordered online and picked up in store. Woot! Woot!
Which flavor will you be getting?
It’s neat how families have their own unique way of growing their kids. I worked 13 yrs full time teaching/putting my husband through (PhD) graduate school then became a SAHM. My fave part: being there when they got off the bus/picking them up to immediately hear the exciting events of the day. ?
