Want to pull off a fun Angry Birds Movie Night Party? Here’s your movie night party plan – from Angry Birds themed pizza, Angry Birds Scavenger Hunt, decor and more!
My kids get obsessed. From Harry Potter, to Minecraft, to Ninjago… it’s always something. Right now, I’m living in an Angry Birds world. It’s quite comprehensive – from online gaming, television shows and real-life toys, it’s all they talk about. And although I sometimes I wonder why these birds always gotta be so angry, at the end of the day, I’m just glad my boys are interested in the same things and happily spend time together.
To celebrate their enthusiasm and brotherly love, I decided it was time to devote one of our family movie nights to the Angry Birds.
I’ve been using my Samsung Galaxy On5 (available for $119.00) with the Walmart Family Mobile plan as an on-the-go mobile solution for when my oldest son “needs” a phone. The Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan, with Unlimited Talk, Text, Data; 10GB 4G LTE plus a free movie on VUDU every month, per line for $49.88, is perfect for his use. Not only can he phone home as needed, but he can play his Angry Birds when we’re carpooling one brother or another around town.
All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change. Please refer to http://cbi.as/4q-u1 or your local Walmart for current pricing.
We’ve had a fun summer of family movie nights. And now, as summer nears an end, I thought it was time…. time to have a mega Angry Birds Movie Night Party!
Complete with themed food, activities, snacks, party favors, decor and more, it was easier to pull off than you might think. But more than anything, I know it was worth it because of the smiles. I’ll never forget those faces when they cuddled up with their friends in their Angry Birds blankets and laughed. That’s what childhood should be about!
Want to host an end-of summer Angry Birds Movie Night Party? Here’s your party plan!
1) Angry Birds Food
I scoured Pinterest high and low for themed food ideas that I thought I could pull off. (I have a distinct lack of craft-ability.) And, although I can’t take credit for the idea, I think my Pepperoni and Olive Angry Birds Pizza came out fantastic! I was worried that after it baked it might lose some of it’s luster, but nope! (I couldn’t find the original source of my pin-spiration, otherwise I’d give the crafty-genius a shout-out!)
To make the pizza above, simply use a frozen cheese pizza as your base. Top with turkey pepperoni as outlined above, then slice off two rounds of buffalo mozzarella for the whites of the eyes. Follow the pattern above with the olives for the eyebrows and pupils, and cut out slices of yellow bell pepper for the beak. Bake as directed until cheese is melted and crust is golden.
The snacks were even less complicated. I got some Angry Bird cake decorations and purchased a bakery cake from Walmart in primary colors. And, what movie night is complete without movie night candy? Yup. Lucky kids.
2) Angry Birds Decor
Thank you Angry Birds for making birds in primary colors. It made decorating for this party a breeze. I found supplies online for a song, got balloons from a party store (PS – putting a mess of balloons into a hot car is not for the faint of heart. Buy more than you need, and try not to let the balloons touch the outside of the car. #goodluck). Water bottles (with lids – this isn’t my first rodeo, folks), and popcorn buckets rounded out my theme.
3) Angry Birds Activities
Best let the kids get the wiggles out before sitting them in front of the TV!
I found Angry Birds stuffed eggs online (but you could even use leftover Easter eggs), and had an old fashioned egg hunt in the backyard. The kids had so much fun, they asked us to re-hide the eggs a few times before they called it quits for movie time.
When it’s time to get to movie watchin’ we cuddled up in Angry Birds blankets. It was a movie night party for the books!
