Let’s get back into routine!  Tackle the back-to-school season and the Mommy New Year with this weekly Cleaning Strategy and supplies to help you get the job done!

Let's get back into routine! Tackle the back-to-school season and the Mommy New Year with this weekly Cleaning Strategy and supplies to help you get the job done!

Mrs. Meyer’s believes that Home Making is not the end of something messy, but the start of something inspirational.  I couldn’t agree more.  Really.  I cannot get anything done when surrounded by mess.  Chaos makes me shut down.  The process of cleaning and tidying actually prepares me to get creative.  Cleaning is balm to my Type-A soul, and the process often leads to some of my best business and creative ideas.  That or taking a shower.   But who has time for that?  Just kidding.  Sort of.

Although I do have a cleaning service come to the house (between work and the kids, it was something that we decided was necessary), I still do quite a bit of cleaning.  A result of those aforementioned kids and the job that has me in the kitchen cooking a good part of the day.

I have to admit, however, that over the course of the summer, my daily and weekly chores went on vacation as well.  But, I thrive in routine, and although I’m sad to see the lazy days of summer slip me by, I am ready for the routine of the back to school season,  Or what I (lovingly) refer to as the Mommy New Year.

To help set me up for success, I’ve nailed down my cleaning schedule and put it all in a printable that I (and you!) can keep on your fridge, or wherever, as a gentle reminder of what to get done each day as part of my weekly cleaning strategy.

Every day, starts out the same – make the bed (not your thing – try it! Nothing feels better than to get into freshly made bed at the end of a long day!).

Start a load of never-ending laundry, empty the dishwasher, then wipe down the bathroom counters after the hubs and kids get ready for the day.   I keep a bottle of Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Glass Cleaner and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Spray in each bathroom, so that I don’t have to lug around a bunch of supplies in the morning.

Not only do I appreciate that they are made with natural essential oils and plant-derived ingredients, but I LOVE the garden-fresh scents like basil, lavender and honeysuckle.  A little aromatherapy to get my morning started right!

Each day I work in my cleaning task at different times, but I usually do it right before lunch so I can get a mini break from the computer.  No task takes longer than 30 minutes.  And, whenever possible, I always employ the kids to do whatever they can reasonably do.

I also use the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Concentrate to wipe down the railings on my front entry for when it’s the weekend chore.

Finally, at the end of the day, I always make sure to wipe down the kitchen counters – I like to use the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Concentrate, diluted in water, so that I only have to get out one product and can clean down everything at once.  I then load up the dishwasher, put away any items left about around the house, and then… fold the laundry while I catch up on some TV.

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day® Multi-Surface Concentrate

I get all of my Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Cleaning supplies at one of my favorites stores, Whole Foods.  (Confession: any grocery store that I can get a glass of wine while I shop is a winner in my book!)  Feel even better about your purchase knowing that Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® has sponsored the Whole Kids Foundation which helps kids learn to grow and enjoy eating fruits and vegetables. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® will donate $1 to Whole Kids Foundation for each of the first 25,000 cleaning products purchased at Whole Foods Market to help kids learn to grow and enjoy eating fruits and vegetables. I definitely need something like this printable in my life. I need to have a daily reminder to clean something or my house gets out of control! [client]
