Begin dreaming in color! Planning a makeover for a room in your house has never been easier! Check out the inspiration for a shared big boys room. #Bringonthecolor
Earlier this year, I kon-mari’ed. For laymen, that means I got rid of a LOT of stuff. Like hundreds of trash bags worth of stuff. And before you start thinking I’m a hoarder… I’m not. I just tossed out anything I haven’t used, that my kids haven’t used, that I don’t love and that doesn’t bring me joy. Turns out, I had a lot of non-joy items hanging around my house.
After I purged, I realized I had several blank slates. One of those being my office. So, I turned a boring wall into a piece of art that brings me joy every time I head into work in the morning. Visitors always remark on it, and ask how I did it.
Olympic paint, y’all! After putting together a mood board for inspiration, I popped into the Olympic Paints and Stains Color Center at Lowe’s which allows people to browse paints and stains all in one place. The colors are organized to make finding and comparing shades super easy.
I picked some favorites, got affordable samples, some good painting tape, then got to work. A few hours later… I had an amazing office. A space that sparks creativity and is fun to be in.
Now, I’m going room to room to pick my next project, and I think I’ve finally decided… the Big Boy’s room. It’s time to turn a little kid room into a “big boy” room that my two oldest kids can enjoy sharing together, but still offer them some private space to call their own. It needs to feel youthful, but not toddler-ish. No problem…. right?!?
It’s a start, and I’m super excited to see how I can create some interesting detail by striping the walls with a dark and light blue. Hello painting tape! I’m feeling confident now.

The color I like and that inspires me is Pony Tail OL690.4
Yellow Coneflower OL615.4
Oh I have to say I am so inspired by the Hint Of Mint! Such a beautiful color. I would love to paint my kitchen that color!
Port Au Prince OL630.6. This one would be great in my son’s room! I am definitely needing to purge that room!
I love the look of your office wall!
Dreamcatcher, a pretty shade of green, inspires me!
I like Spring Lilac.
My favorite is the florentine lapis color. We repainted our kitchen this summer, and while I am not sure that was the technical name of the color, it looks very close.
