Creative DIY Projects for Displaying Your Family Photos

OMG! I sooo need to take notes. This is a guest post, but Lord knows I need to get a handle on photos over here! Love the polaroid wall!  Wouldn’t that be fun?  Be sure to pin all of these great creative DIY Projects for displaying your family photos!

Creative DIY Projects for Displaying Your Family Photos

With smartphones capable of taking great pictures, it has never been easier to snap family photos that remind us of our precious moments with our loved ones.

Integrating family photos into your home decor can give a cozy ambiance and evoke a warm and fuzzy feeling. If yours have been sitting for so long in your computer or storage device, it’s time to put them to good use. Here are some creative and budget-friendly DIY projects for displaying your family photos:

  1. Photo Wall

Using photo albums and frames is one of the easiest ways to showcase your family’s best photos at home. You can fill a bare wall with photos in frames of different shapes, colors, or sizes. Also, you can put up a corner in your living room for family photo albums that your guests can access anytime.

Go vintage and sentimental by turning your digital images into beautiful Polaroids. Post on your wall the Polaroid pictures of your family’s vacations, gatherings and celebrations, or even the most candid but memorable moments. To make your photos pop, mount them onto a dark-colored wall.

  1. Photo Canvas

Here’s another design idea for the vintage lover: have your photos printed on blank canvases and hang them on your walls. Edit the colors of the photos in Photoshop to make them look bright and colorful.

  1. Photo Clock

Don’t just arrange your family photos on a wall—make a functional clock out of them! Choose 12 photos and put each of them into a frame. For a unique, personalized touch, you can also create DIY picture frames.

  1. Ceramic Photo Tiles

Creating ceramic photo tiles may seem complicated, but it’s actually not. Just get the height and width of the tiles you’re going to use, as these dimensions will serve as your guide when you resize your photos. After resizing your photos, print them and lay each one out on a ceramic tile. Apply some glue on the back of the photo, stick it on a tile, and let it dry. Lastly, paint glue thinly on the surface of the photo tile to give it a glossy finish. Display your ceramic tile photos on the shelves of your living room or also use them as DIY fridge magnets.

  1. Old Wood with Wiring Display

Turn your old window frames into an interesting photo display. Attach some strings on each window frame and hang your family photos using clothespins.

  1. Wooden Frame

Don’t throw away those excess and old wood planks because they can make for charming rustic frames for your family photos. Using clothespins, pin up the photos and stick a double-sided tape at the back of each photo before mounting it on the plank. Add some accents like scrabble letters or scrapbooking stickers to complete the rustic look.

Displaying your family photos doesn’t have to be costly. Look for things in your home that you can repurpose for your photo display. What’s important is that you get to fill your home with photos that highlight the most memorable and fun memories of your family.
