If you ask my kids what their favorite holidays are, they’d all three tell you: #1: Christmas, #2: Halloween. If I’m to be honest, I actually prefer the smaller holidays – those with a little less pomp and circumstance…. fewer perfect pins for us all to live up to. The holidays like Thanksgiving – where we all gather together for one special meal – or Labor Day! Hello, burgers by the pool.
I know, I know. I’m the Grinch of Halloween. But before you start calling me names, read on. Because, I’ve figured out how to host a kid-friendly Halloween shindig, with very little effort…. and maybe a few Pinterest-worthy ideas, if I do say so myself.
Halloween Party Food
When I saw these limited edition Canada Dry Mini Monster cans, I knew they would be the centerpiece. Not only are they the perfect stand-alone beverage for us to cart along while trick-or-treating, but I have an awesome Berry Punch Recipe that could easily be adapted for Halloween.
The treats were easy enough too! Great Value sandwich cookies are easily dressed up with white cookie icing and googly eyes to get the mummy treatment.
Little pretzel ghosts were made with white chocolate coated pretzels. I simply used the same white cookie icing as glue to secure the eyes.
And because my kids just adore candy corn, I sprinkled some into Great Value Rocky Road Trail Mix. Voila. Easy-peasy!
The recipe for the Berry Bloody Punch is below, and the frozen ice-cube hands are completely optional, but super fun! Just make sure you give them at least a day to freeze solid. Using powder-free vinyl gloves, fill each hand with water and seal tightly with a twist tie. Freeze until solid throughout, and when ready to use, just peel off the vinyl.

Ingredients
2-3 powder-free vinyl gloves
24 ounces pineapple juice
24 ounces cranberry juice
32 ounces Canada Dry
1 cup fresh raspberries
Instructions
At least 24 hours prior to the time you'd like to serve your punch, you need to prepare the ice hands, if you're using them.
Simply fill up each glove with water, tapping out any air bubbles, then seal with a twist-tie. Place them flat on a tray, with the sealed ends, pointing slightly upwards (to avoid drippage). Freeze until solid.
In a large punch bowl, combine the juices and Canada Dry. Stir in the raspberries.
Remove the vinyl glove from each hand, then place the frozen hands in the punch. Serve immediately!
