I’ve now lived in my “new” house for two years. Two. years. Seems like it was just yesterday! That fast forward button must be at it again. I feel really settled in my “new” house. For good reason, I ‘spose. But, there is one thing I do miss terribly from our “old” house. The garden.
We’ve planned on adding a garden to our backyard-scape, but it just hasn’t happened yet. That, and adding photos to all of the picture frames around the house. It’s only been two years, after all. 😉
Although it’s still in the works, it might be awhile before I actually see any fruit coming out of the garden. That doesn’t exist yet. Until then… I’ll be ordering from The Produce Box.
The Produce Box brings the Farmer’s Market to your door with fresh, local produce and specialty products like meats, cheese, bread to homes and offices all over North Carolina.
Here’s why that totally floats my boat: First up, it’s all local. NC-based veggie, fruit, meat and cheese goodness.
Second, you get to decide what you want week-by-week in an easy online ordering system. Pick the box you’d like; some are fruit heavy, some have unusual veggies. All of them look great!
Then, you can add to your order and swap items for those you prefer. I added a cheese from Chapel Hill Creamery and locally-sourced beef.
Finally, put out a cooler and your produce will be delivered to your doorstep. It’s like Amazon Prime, but better. And y’all know how much I love my Prime membership! 🙂
Here’s the bounty I received in my last order from The Produce Box. Isn’t she a beauty?
Glad you asked! I’ve got TONS of ways to use summer produce in healthy meals the whole family will love. Oh, and if you want to try The Produce Box for yourself, simply sign up here. Be sure to use the promo code: MOMFAVORITE for $5 off the one-time registration fee.
Boxes start at $23/week and you can skip weekly deliveries anytime.
One of my favorite’s is to make Zucchini Fries (the recipe is below), but here are a few other great ideas:
- 4 Zucchini
- Olive Oil
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Cut Zucchini into three-inch sticks. Toss with olive oil, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- Arrange on baking sheet in single layer. Bake for 25 minutes, flipping once.
- – Can easily be made with carrots, too.
I received product and compensation in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own, and I am now a paying member of The Produce Box.
