What’s in your mom arsenal? Here are some of our favorite and best products for new moms!
Yes, I did buy a $15 re-usable diaper disposal bag. Yep, it was a plastic lined cloth bag designed to toss rogue dirty diapers in and keep stinkiness confined. You then get the pleasure of washing it out between uses. Did I stop to evaluate when I might use this? Not really. Did I ever use it? Once. After a major blow-out, the diaper and the bag hit the trash.
Stores are chocked full of expensive gadgets and gizmos that make us parents think, “If only I had that awesome “X” my parenting job will be so much easier, and I’ll finally be able to feel like I’ve got everything under control.” Well, my friends, that may be a bit of a pipe-dream, but here are three inexpensive and helpful items that have made my parenting job easier. If only for a few moments.
The Formula Dispenser: Pre-measure your formula into the handy dividers, and you’ve got enough food for the little guy for an afternoon at the park. The Munchkin brand is available at Target for less than $3.The Dishwasher Basket: I use this guy for sippy cup valves, plastic kiddie utensils, and any small item that has to be washed on the top shelf of the dishwasher. When we were in the bottle phase, we used the quick-steam bags, but this would work too. You can purchase this basket from Amazon for less than $5. The Snack Trap: You won’t be able to make it through toddler-hood without this most handy of items. Throw in a handful of goldfish, cereal, or my new favorites – green beans or fruit – and you’ve got a (somewhat) clean and easy way to feed your little person in the stroller, in the car, or anywhere you go. You can find these at any place that sells baby gear for less than $4.

Hey Katie, too bad you threw out the re-usable diaper bag… I know they get nasty, but wash well and I love mine for the pool and beach. It’s the perfect size to get all the wet stuff back home without getting my wallet, phone, magazines and other stuff in the beach bag wet. But I do agree 100% that there are way too many things parents are guilted into buying! Great recommendations! Ricki 🙂

We used the formula dispenser as snack storage too. Goldfish, Cheerios and teddy grahams fit perfectly.
