To manage the table mess, I have now added another tool to my mom-arsenal – the table topper, a disposable, stick-on placemat. Keep a few in your bag, pull them out for the meal, then wrap all of the mess and uneaten food up in the mat for easy disposal. It also helps negate the sticky table situation. I haven’t found the equivalent disposable mat for restaurant floors, but here’s my theory on that – clean up what you can, but don’t leave behind a giant mess without leaving a giant tip.
