I have an announcement! I’m graduating! From my diaper bag! Some may feel like this is a waste-of-a-blog-post announcement, but for me, this is kind of a BIG deal. I’m getting a piece of “me” back. The piece that doesn’t carry baby wipes, diapers, and burp cloths with her at all times.
It dawned on me that this was a necessary step yesterday, when I was out getting a pedicure without the boys. “So, how old’s your baby?” I was asked when I was getting my feet de-calloused. “Huh?” I asked, slighly confused. The spa technician pointed at the baby bottles jutting out of my bag, the diapers hanging out of the side, and a fluffy toy jammed in a pocket. Yep, it is THAT obvious….
Which has led me to the decision to give the boys their own back packs. Graham’s stays in the car with emergency back-up pants, snacks, and entertainment. Will’s is going to be a little more ambulatory, as he has bigger demands. Yep, he’s the kind of baby you have to feed multiple times a day.
Regardless, I am feeling a little more free today as I get ready to leave the house. Although large, my purse is mine. You’ll find checkbooks, hairbrushes and chapstick within. But, you will not find anything designed to soak up pee in there. And for that I am grateful.
If you also are planning your own graduation, may I suggest a trip to Nordstrom Rack to splurge on a discounted designer bag? And for your little ones, check out these adorable packs from Skip Hop! We have the monkey and puppy ones; they retail for $19.99 at Amazon.com.
Happy Monday!
