So it is exams time and instead of going out and having fun, you are sitting in your home with your books. Do you feel the pressure of exams? Perhaps you are under a lot of stress due to it? It is normal for students to be stressed out when examinations are knocking at the door but if you feel that you can not take any more of the stress, then the tips below may help you.
Tips for busting exam stress:
1. Have faith in yourself- I am quite certain that you must have heard people telling you that you should have faith in yourself. If you trust yourself to pass your exams then you will. You would not have been scheduled to appear for the test if you were not qualified for it.
2. Instead of using your time to worry about your exam, why don’t you take proper actions? You will never be able to understand and learn your course material if you do not make an effort to try and understand it. Getting stressed out will not help as it will only waste your time. You can always go to your tutor or ask your class mate to help you out.
3. If you are stressed out because of your exam then you can always talk to a good friend. It is a great way to get rid of stress.
4. If you think that you should always get A* and anything less is unacceptable it will put unnecessary pressure on you. Instead, why don’t you just aim to try your very best?
5. It is always advised that you prepare yourself before your exam so that you will have sufficient time for revisions before the actual date of the test. Studying before hand will not just prepare you for the test but it will also increase your confidence. Avoid last minute revision and plan and take action in advance.
6. At the time of exams, you will want to concentrate on studying for hours at a stretch. However, we would advise you to take short breaks in between so that you will not be too stressed out. You can just sit and relax or you can spend your breaks talking to your loved ones. Use our revision timetable to plan your days in advance.
7. If you think that you should be drinking plenty of coffee or tea when you are preparing for your test, then I would advise you to think otherwise. Drinking a lot of caffeine will make you feel nervous and you will not be able to concentrate on your books. This is the last thing that you want.
8. Believe it or not, but eating healthy foods on a regular basis will benefit you and make you concentrate better on your books. Instead of eating sweets and sugar-rich foods, why don’t you consume some superfoods like nuts, broccoli, oily fish, bananas and berries? They will not just give you more energy but they will also improve your mood and concentration.
9. Working out on a regular basis will also help in exam stress relief and improve your concentration level. Going to the gym, swimming or walking on a regular basis will help you in the long run as they will not just improve your physical health but also your mental health.
10. When you feel like you are having a panic attack due to your exam, try to calm down by taking deep breaths. This is a very effective way to get rid of stress.
11. It is normal for students to feel like their minds have gone blank, after they have studied for a long period of time. During this time, do not panic. Just take a short break, it will come back to you.
