When it comes to cooking, I’ve got most gadgets that one would need to get the job done. I’ve got some gadgets that make things easier. And a few things that make food taste better.
Knives, check. Microplane, check. Food processor, blender and strand mixer, check. I’ve have a rice steamer that I love and an air popper I couldn’t live without. But every few weeks, when I go to my mail box, I am delighted to find a Williams Sonoma or Sur la Table catalog that teases me with things that I will probably never own. Not only because of price or practicality, but because of how much space they take up.
In my dream world, however, these are the items I’d wanna get my oven-mitts on.
Nespresso Machine: I love my morning coffee, but sometimes I want a straight shot of espresso (or as my husband used to say… EXpresso.) Rub a little lemon peel on the rim, a cube of sugar, and I’m golden. This beauty would look good on my counter-top, don’t ya think? Price varies by retailer, but they start at $229 or so.
Mandoline: The food processor seems to do the job for most things I’m slicing, but it sure would be nice to adjust the slicing width. Plus, sometimes it’s nice to not have to plug something in…. This cute lil thing is made by zyliss and retails for $20 at Target.
Pasta Press Attachment: We were lucky enough to be given a KitchenAid Stand Mixer as a wedding gift. Over the years, I’ve accumulated a few attachments that make it such a practical appliance in the kitchen. We make doughs and desserts, and we’ve gotten a pasta roller that makes delish noodles, spaghetti, and fettuccine. But, I’ve always wondered… How does one make kid-friendly penne or rigatoni? Apparently, you have to get a Pasta Press attachment. For the bargain price of $179.95.
Food Mill: Admittedly, I never really made baby food for my children, or I’d probably already have one. But, the only recipes I often come across that I want to make and can’t are gnocchi recipes. Gotta have a
food mill to make homemade gnocchi. One day, I’ll get one. Until that day, I’ll just go out when my gnocchi craving hits. This Cuisipro Food Mill is available for $109.95.
What’s on your kitchen wish list? A good knife? An ice cream machine? Do share!
I really really need, ok I would love to have a nice set of All Clad pots and pans oh and some La Creuset casserole dishes…. One can always dream 🙂
Add both of those to my list too. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? I want a giant Le Creuset pot. In lavender, please. A girl can dream.
I’ve made gnocchi without the food mill before, it takes ages, but it’s yummy. I made it living in a small apartment in Frace with two pots and a few other random accessories and definitely nothing fancy!
