You know what one of the worst feelings is? Finishing a great book. It feels like a break-up. Like a mini-death or the end of a fantastic vacation. Most readers have had the sensation…
What’s On My Bookshelf
I felt that way after reading The Hunger Games triology and I felt the loss after finishing The Shadow of the Wind. I don’t read quite as often as I like, but when I find a great book, I want to share it with everyone. Here are a few great reads, that perhaps you’ll like too:
Sarah’s Key, Tatiana de Rosnay
– heartbreaking story of fiction that ties modern day France to the story of a Jewish girl in WWII.
Bossypants, Tina Fey
– fast paced parent humor.
Beside A Burning Sea, John Shors
– great storytelling, beautiful imagery, and character develpment, set in WWII.
Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn
– psychological thriller, great beach read.
Matched Trilogy (third book not yet released), Ally Condie
– not as good as the Hunger Games, but has a similar vibe. young adult fiction.
What Alice Forgot, Liane Moriaty
– women’s fiction, great characters, definitely made me think, “what if?”
The Red Garden, Alice Hoffman
– short stories that span centuries all based in one small town.
And here are a few books on the to-read shelf:
