Mama Fu’s So Good: Review and Giveaway

You know how some people debate what book they’d take or what drink they’d bring if they had one option on a stranded island?  I contemplate what restaurant I’d take with me if I could only have one on a private island.  And for a foodie, I know this sounds bizarre, but I’d consider taking Mama Fu’s with me.  It’s one of my faves.  They have fresh veggies, plenty of protein options (tofu, steak, chicken and shrimp), and it’s consistently great.  Plus, if I’m stuck with my kids on said island, I want a restaurant that keeps them happy and satisfied too.

By the pictures below, you’ll see that Mama Fu’s pleases the entire Harding clan.  We all have our go-to orders here.  Rarely do we stray, although sometimes I alternate between veggie and shrimp options.  Or we’ll order an appetizer on top of our usual fare.

I pretty much always get the Thai Green Beans.  Sometimes I get it “with veggies”, but when I’m feeling adventurous, I order it with shrimp.  It’s pretty much awesome if you like a plate of green food.  Served with brown rice, and with my addition of Sriracha sauce, it’s my “heaven on a plate.”

My husband, the bon-a-fide tofu expert, claims that Mama Fu’s has the best tofu in town.  I’ve heard other tofu fans back him up on this.  His go-to order is always the Vietnamese Crunchy Noodles with Tofu.  I always try to steal a bite of the crunchy noodles when he’s not looking.  Don’t tell him.  He thinks he can eat the whole bowl by himself.

And the kids.  The kids always want Ninja Noodles with Chicken.  It’s Mama Fu’s version of lo mein, and they never tell me “that’ll cost more” when I ask them to add in broccoli.  Gotta love that.  The kids meals come with a cookie and milk, so I just have them split the meal and order an extra milk.  Both kids eagerly devour the food to get to the cookie first, and Graham gets a kick out of trying to eat with chopsticks!

Now that I’ve caused you to start drooling (sorry ’bout that), these are the two things you need to know:

1) The Mama Fu’s in Charlotte (Sharon Amity and Providence Road) has “kids eat for $0.99”, up to three kids, on Wednesday and Saturday.  You’ll often find entertainment for the kids on these nights as well.

2) You’re going to want to enter our second giveaway of the week (third giveaway if you count the Food Lion Non-Profit Gift Card Contest)!  We’re offering up a $25 Mama Fu’s gift card (good at the Charlotte, NC location) to one of our readers.  Simply use the rafflecopter app below and enter by November 5th!
