Pick a Non-Profit to Win a Food Lion Gift Card!

For those of you that don’t keep up with all of  my comings and goings (and let’s be honest, I don’t keep up with my own comings and goings), I participated in a Food Lion Frugal Cook-Off about a month back.  We competed on teams of three and turns out, my team won!  I was honored to cook along with Kelly from Foodie Fresh and Wendy from Charlotte Smartypants. We were given 30 minutes and $15 to build a meal for four people with one main and two sides.

food lion frugal cook off

Our Curry Chicken Sate with Peanut Sauce, Asian Rice Pilaf and Teriyaki Roasted Carrots pleased the judges and all three of us walked out with $250 gift card to use at Food Lion: one for each blogger and one for our readers.  I’ve already given away the gift card meant for a blog reader (congrats Beth W.!), but I decided to split my gift card in half and give half to a non-profit that could put it to good use.

I had readers offer up their favorite non-profits two weeks ago and now I’m going to present you with the opportunity to vote for the one you want to receive the gift card.  All you have to do is mention the non-profit that you want to win in the comment section below!  Feel free to share this post with your friends in order to generate more comments for the non-profit of your choice.

And, because I’m pretty excited about it, I wanted to share with you this segment from WCNC Charlotte Today which aired yesterday and highlights Kelly, Wendy and me demonstrating our recipe and how to find our ingredients in Food Lion.

If you’d like the recipes for any meals made in the Food Lion Frugal Cook Off, visit: http://www.foodlion.com/frugalcookoff

Now, for the list of Non-Profits that you can Vote to Win a $125 by mentioning them in a comment below.  Entries are due by November 6th, 2012.

I am not just voting for The Sandbox, I am voting for all the kids and their families I have met through The Sandbox. From the top of the organization to the newest volunteer, there is an unmatched flame of excitement in everyone. VOTE SANDBOX!

During Thanksgiving, The Sandbox feeds families whose children are afflicted by cancer of life altering illnesses. Our 20122 drive fed 373 people in the Charlotte community. $125 goes a long way towards helping us to exceed the 2011 number. Thank you to all for considering The Sandbox.

The Sandbox has the “biggest” heart! Their main goal is to make the everyday life of a sick child a little brighter. And they have accomplished this in a very short time. What is any better in life than to see a child smile.
