Heirloom Family Recipes, Creative Leftovers, Family Volunteering & Mix Tapes

Need a last minute menu helper for tomorrow?  I shared two wonderful family “heirloom” recipes  with ChiquitaMoms.com.  If you have yet to discover the perfect stuffing/dressing, you’ll want to check out this recipe for Wild Rice Sausage Stuffing.  Family legend has it that this recipe is “stolen” which makes it even cooler.  I also shared an ooey-gooey Caramel Banana Cake that would pair well with a pumpkin pie on the table tomorrow.

Now that we’ve rounded out your Thanksgiving meal, I expect you’ll be a busy bee in the kitchen.  Hard to believe that in just by tomorrow afternoon you’ll be wondering what the heck to do with all of those leftovers.  Sure… you could make a turkey sandwich.  Or… you could make:

This – Savory Turkey Hand Pies

This – Spiced Sweet Potato Dip

or This – Day-After Frittata

Wanna get the recipes?  I shared them with FoodLion.com!  Stop over here to get the recipes.

If you have some extra time this weekend with family, I encourage you to check out volunteer opportunities.  I have shared a great list of opportunities for you and your family to lend a hand on this weekend where all of us are thankful.  Don’t forget that part of the season is to give back.  Here are some places that need you to do just that:  Make Volunteering a Family Affair.

Finally, if some of you are hitting the road to day, I leave you with a blog post from my good friend Denise…. She made you a faux mix tape full of great (ok, some of it’s great… I question the Bieber addition) music to keep you light-hearted as you navigate the traffic on the way to Grandma’s.
