November 7, 2012 Link Parties

In Other Blogs, November vol 1. #Linkup

Where I’ve been and what you’ve loved: A #Linkup Party!

I’m probably not supposed to admit this, but I’m glad Halloween is over.  I feel that Halloween (much like Valentine’s Day) boasts way too much creative pressure… and advanced planning.  Let’s admit it, crafty I am not, and I live to put things off.  Needless to say, I’ve gleefully put the day where you are supposed to create creepy front-door scenes and skillfully hand-make costumes behind me.

helping hands

Now, I look forward to things that matter to me.  On MomsCharlotte.com this week, I’ve shared opportunities in the Charlotte area where families can lend a helping hand to help out others in need.  Organizations that are great for family participation include the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte and the Second Harvest Food Bank.  For ways you and your children can volunteer, visit my column “It Takes a Village.”

fruit basket healthy snacking

Those of you that know me, know that another important thing for me is living a healthy lifestyle.  I made a earnest effort to make a lifestyle change in 2009 after having my first child.  To that end, one of the things I gave up on was salty-food snacking.  I don’t even keep the things that tempt me in my pantry.  I’ve learned what to eat when I have certain cravings, and I shared my guide to snacking on with the ChiquitaMoms.com community.

Other great posts you won’t want to miss:

In my ample post-Halloween time (hah!), I’ve been scouring the world-wide-web for ways to enhance the experience on MomFavorites.com.  One post (among the many) that I found helpful was this on from Mom-Blog.com about plug-ins for WordPress users.  If you are a fellow-blogger, feel free to share additional plug-ins that you’ve found helpful.  As a former blogger.com user, I’m pretty darn thrilled about all of the options and easy of application!

I’ve been a cooking fiend lately!  I blame the fact that it’s cold outside and being around the oven warms me through.  Add a little spiciness to the mix and I feel down right toasty…  Which is why I’m pretty amped up to try the Easy Shortcut Chicken Enchildas from Tiffany at PeanutBlossom.com.  Sounds perfect on a rushed night when my hubs comes in late from work.  Not much unlike tonight….

Did I miss your favorite post from the last few weeks?  Share it here!
