Grandma Knows {Almost} Everything

pregnant

I know that every grandparent thinks that her grandchild is smarter, cuter, and funnier than other specimens, especially those endlessly touted by rival grandparents.  I happen to be the exception.  I KNOW that Graham and Will are just the cutest little boys ever!  I try not to flash pictures, but I simply can’t resist a story or seven when asked about them.   Here’s one of my latest conversations with four-year-old Graham.

The two of us were eating dinner together and having the kind of conversation that one has with a four-year-old.  I was attempting to impress him with my vast knowledge of animals.  “Graham, did you know that bears sleep through the winter?”  Good, huh?

Graham didn’t even get excited, “Hibernation.”

Unfortunately, within two tries, Grandma’s wealth of interesting animal tidbits was exhausted.  I tried to remember something from eighth grade science.  Nothing, nada, zip.  I think Graham felt sorry for me.  “Actually, Gwama, I do have a question….”  Aha!  He doesn’t know absolutely everything.  “How do babies get out of their mommies’ tummies?”

Hmmm.  This was something I absolutely couldn’t remember.  I’m a failure at science.  “Hey, Graham, let’s have ice cream.”  “Yeah, Gwama, that would be great!”
