#Ad – Pet Safety for Summer Months

pet safety tips for summer months My dog spends most of the day outside.  If you read my post earlier last this month, you know that my pup Molly Mae has a pee-problem.  We’re still working on her diagnosis, but in the meantime, she’s primarily a backyard dog.  I don’t feel bad; she loves checking out the goings-ons in our neighborhood, playing with the kids, and saying hi to the walkers that pass by our back yard.  However, as it begins to heat up, I know I need to be more mindful of pet safety for summer months. pet safety supplies I looked up some of the top pet safety tips and thought I’d share them with you, so we can all make sure our fur-babies are taken care of during these warm months.

12 Don’t Miss Tips – Pet Safety for Summer Months:

pet safety shade
Make sure that your dog always has a shady spot to rest in.

Never leave your dog in a closed vehicle on a hot day.
pet safety nudges treats
During backyard parties, don’t let guests give your pup people food which can cause stomachaches or worse! Keep treats on hand for guests who want to reward your dog.
pet safety cool water
Always provide plenty of cool, fresh water.

Keep dogs off of lawns that have been chemically treated or fertilized for 24 hours.

Dogs, especially those with short hair, white fur, and pink skin, can sunburn. Limit your dog’s exposure during the day and apply sunblock to his ears and nose 30 minutes before going outside.

Avoid hot pavement and sidewalks that can burn your pups paws.

If you’re swimming for the first time with your dog, start in shallow water and coax him in by calling his name. Encourage him with toys or treats. Or, let him follow another experienced dog he is friendly with.
pet safety kids
Be sure all children are supervised when near your dog to avoid any roughhousing.

Limit exercise on hot days.

Watch out for heatstroke. Symptoms include panting, vomiting, lethargy, drooling and collapse.
pet safety brush
Brush your pet! A lighter coat helps keep pup cool. If she has trouble sitting for a good brushing, keep treats nearby.
shelf photo As you can see, a lot of these tips include rewards.  Dog treats make a pup’s world go round, and Molly Mae has recently discovered Nudges.

I picked up a summer supply of them during a recent shopping jaunt to Walmart.  I love that they are USA-made and free of fillers.  They also come in a variety of flavors for the most discerning gourmand pup including Health and Wellness Chicken, Beef, Bacon and Duck.

Give them a try with this offer from Nudges. Happy Memorial Day, and don’t forget to share your #NudgesMoments with #CollectiveBias!
