Our family had a bad week earlier this summer.  I had a minor pregnancy complication that had me in bed for a few days.  Will was sick.  And, then our sweet pup Molly starting dragging her back leg one morning.  Jon happened to be staying home that day to help with the kids since I was unable to move about, so I asked him to take her to the vet.

Jon came back from the veterinarian visit with Molly later on that afternoon, and neither of them looked too pleased.  Molly was dragging her back leg and was standing on it with her paw turned under.  Jon just looked sad.  He told me that it was most likely that she had a spinal cord injury and a piece of bone had gotten stuck in her spine.  It would take weeks, maybe years, or maybe never heal.  She would likely need a bootie for her foot so she wouldn’t tear it up from dragging it.  It wasn’t a very good prognosis.
molly and graham ed I was so sad.  Molly is the core of our family.  She’s the second mom to my boys.  When they were infants, she’d curl up underneath their crib, swing or bassinet and babysit them whenever I left the room.  When they are sick, she’s by their side.  When they go to play outside, she goes with them.  I feel safe and loved by her presence, and I was so excited about seeing her with our new baby this summer.  To hear that she was injured and may be suffering was just unbearable.

Then the unbelievable – two days later, I SWORE that her limp was getting better.  Maybe it was in my head, but it really seemed to improve.  By mid-week, I knew I wasn’t crazy.  Molly had drastically turned a corner.  In fact, I began to see some of her spunk come back.  A week and a half afterwards, she darted from the house down to the yard after a rabbit.  My girl was back.  Color me grateful.
purina one dog food Making sure my dog is given every opportunity for a healthy and energetic life is so important to me and my family, and I couldn’t have been more happy that I started her on the Purina One 28 day challenge.  By feeding her Purina One, I’m ensuring that she gets the right mix of vitamins, nutrition and protein in her diet.  The foundation is there for a healthy life: bright eyes, healthy skin and coat, and pep in her step!
molly mae purina one food It’s amazing to see my 11 year old dog run around with my boys in the backyard… even more so after we were told she may never be able to walk normally again! Needless to say, we’ll be sticking to our Purina One diet, and I’ll have a little more faith in my pup moving forward.  Maybe an old dog can show me some new tricks. 😉
